Default Evo Engines

Are all evo engines pre-broken in? Or is it just a select few like the 36NT and 40NT?

I think the only one that is pre-run is this one The trainer Power System

" No tuning, running or break-in needed "

Looking at the different Evolution glow engines, the 36NT also has this "no tuning or break-in needed" statement

I was going to say JMO but I don't think I'm alone in thinking that they are not really broken-in...

They might be assembled with a fit that's not quite as tight as some ABC engines, so the break-in doesn't take as long...and they might even be test run at the factory, but they still have a way to go before being completely broken-in.

That's probably true for after you run the Trainer engines some, it often comes to the point where you run out of adjustment on your needles and you have to move the limiters.

The manual for the .61 NT also says it's already broken in but I'm going to run it on the bench anyway. I'm a little confused on their fuel requirements in that they do not call for any percentage of oil (cast/synthetic)

I had a .36NT that was so tight my starter wouldn't turn it over. I had to heat the cylinder with a heat gun to open it up so it could be started. After a couple of runs on the bench, it was fine and hand started easily. It was a screamer, too.

Good to hear that Ed. I have a Sig Wonder that I want to build and I've been thinking about buying that engine for it.

It should be okay. There are some pics on RCU of them with .46FXs. I'll make the stab removable to shift CG aft. That is a neat mod. The Wonder build threads here have some good ideas. I'm debating on putting in a rudder servo.
