Default Lost recipe for mixing castor oil into Syn

I have a gallon of Power Master 20/20, 100 synthetic.

How much castor oil can/should I safely mix in?

Thank you

Get yourself a metric measuring cup it''ll make life easier.

A US gallon of fuel is 3.79 liters (3,790ml).

If you want to give that fuel a total of 3% castor (a nice safe level) then you can get pretty close by simply multiplying 3,790 times 0.03 which is around 114ml. Of course that won''t be exactly 3% because the total volume will become 3,904ml (making the castor ratio actually 2.9%) but this won''t matter.

But if you want to stick with imperial, 114ml (make it 115) is 3.9oz (make it 4oz).

Do it the easy way and keep it simple.
one gallon = 128 ounces
5% of 128 = 6.5 ounces

I would just add 6 ounces of castor per gallon.

Or, even easier, 1.28ozs is 1% of a gallon. I round down to 1 1/4ozs. Therefore, adding 5ozs of castor is 4% more oil.

one gallon = 128 ounces
5% of 128 = 6.5 ounces
But once you add that extra 6.5 oz you have more than a gallon altogether so you end up with less than 5% of the fuel volume being castor :-)

In fact, the castor percentage becomes 4.8% not 5%.

But I''m just being an annoying pedant :-)

Well, then just take five ounces of fuel out of the jug before adding the 5ozs of castor.

****sheee,

20/20 fuel already contains 20% oil... adding castor oil will just make the oil percentage higher.

For YS I would have 2% castor oil replacing 2% of the synthetic - not being added to it....

If you are adding nevertheless, add 3 oz. of castor oil, 3 oz. of nitro and 15 oz. of pure methanol.
The fuel will be ~1.8% castor oil and still 20/20...

First of all, what are you wanting to do?
1. Just add some castor for anticorrosion protection?
2. increase the total oil content?

you can do all the mental gymnastics.................. or.................. you can go to this link,
http://www.nitrorc.com
scroll down to Custom Fuel Blending Workshop
scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the appropriate button. Then you must decide what % you want to end up with. the program will give you the amount (in ounces) of oil to add and the total amount of mix you end up with.

Thanks Mike...........I have a gallon of 100% synthetic 20/20 Power Master fuel.

My understanding is that this fuel contains 0% castor oil.

I would like to have a percentage of castor for bearing protection.

Thank you

Jerry

Here''s a link that may help you. It tells you how much oil to add to come up to what ever you may want in oil percentage. Scroll down to the bottom of the page.
Click on add oil only.

http://www.nitrorc.com/default2.asp?...rc.com/fuelws/

Hope it helps you.
