New O-rings for old carbs
Does anyone know where to get o-rings for old engines? I have a Thunder Tiger 25 Pro in need of an o-ring for the carb/crankcase juncture. I know that the I.D. for the o-ring needs to be 3/8 inch. I'm sure lots of engines have been made with carbs that size, so I don't think I necessarily need a TT source. But searches on RCU, Google and Tower Hobbies have not nelped me solve the problem.
There are many generic o-ring outlets, but the thinnest rings seem to be 1/16. It might be OK, but I think the carb rings are usually thinner than that. There is no "stepped" area around the hole for the carb, so maybe it doesn't matter. In fact, the two surfaces are quite flat, so maybe just some RTV would do?
Thanks,
Jim

RE: New O-rings for old carbs
Hi Jim, the best way is the way indicated by Rainedave. But if you cant get the new o-rings, i know an alternative. Try a rubber grip from and old pen, that some pens have. This grips can be cut in a variety widths, and serves very well as goods carbs o-rings. Just use a good scisor and nice flying!!

Ha! Model builders are such a resourceful lot.
Really, it's hard to throw anything away without stopping first to ponder whether it has some, ahh, use...
That's one of many I hadn't thought of.
Thanks guys,
Jim
