Default MDS .68 Fuel/Prop Suggestions

I just ordered an edge 540 .60 from horizon . I have an mds 68 and was wondering a few things about it. This engine came out of a heli and has been run on 30% Cool Power for as long as I owned it, It ran well in the heli although at times a bit troublesome to tune, but when tuned properly it produced nice power. My first question is should I keep running the same fuel or should I change? The owners manual recomends 15-30% I'm going to be using the muffler off my os .61 cause I had to buy an in cowl muffler for the os, so I might as well put it to use. The other thing I'm looking for is prop suggestions I want to have enough power to go vertical with the edge I was thinking about getting a 12x8 the only engine I have that is close is an os .61 FX which I have a 12x6 on, and by the specs the mds should have quite a bit more power then the os. I know Hp dosn't always equate into better performance but I think the specs on the os are 1.9Bhp and the mds has 2.5Bhp. this should leave some room for more pitch or a larger prop I'm new to the bigger engines so any suggestions would be helpful
Thanks

The MDS 68 is not necessarly any more powerful than your 61FX. The standard prop for it should be the 12-6. but for 3D type you could go to a 13-5 or even a 14-4. With your plane, the 14-4 may not give you enough speed.

10-15% nitro is plenty in the MDS 68. I wouldn't use 30% heli in it.

Forget all those horse power numbers you quoted. I doubt those for either engine were correct?

Thanks, I doubt they are correct either but they are what the factory specs them at. I'm not really concerned with speed, but I do want enough pulling power to go straight up. I've been reading the edge thread and everyone seems to have at least a .91 4-stroke will I be underpowered with this engine? the kit says 60-90 2-stroke but the thread seems to suggest even the 90 are not enough power. I only want this plane for normal aerobatics not anything extreme or 3d, but I would like enough power to stay out of trouble.

I run one of my MDS 68s with a 12x6 and the other on a 11x7.5. I agree with w8ye that a 13x5 or 14x4 would provide you more thrust but at the expense of top speed.

BTW, 10-15% nitro is all you need.

0 to 5% nitro, 14x6 MA K series with a MCP at 10.5K. I have a 8.75# stick like fun-fly that has unlimited vert. I switched to the Mag .91, MCP, and a 16x6 and everything is better.

I just looked it up on their website.
Edge 540 .60 Specifications:

Wing Span: 63.75 in (1620mm)

Weight: 8 - 9 lbs (3.6 - 4.0 kg)

2 Stroke Engine Size: .61 - .90

4 Stroke Engine Size: .91 - 1.20

Radio: 4-channel

# Servos Required: 5

A MCP would not look good on this bird. For that kind of performance from a 9# plane with stock exhaust, you better go with a .91. If you do, get a Mag, I have 2 .91's and 5 Mags total. Never had a problem, and they run great.
