Default Saito 40a + Lazy Bee 48" extended wing?

I was planning to use an OS 30 Surpass or a Saito 30 on the Lazy Bee with the 48" wing, but then I read about the Saito 40a which is only an ounce more in weight than the Saito 30... is this doable or advisable?

It calls for a .20 to .26 four stroke on Clancy's site, and for .20 to .30 four stroke on another site that sells it.

I'm naturally tryin to buy an engine that will work for as many planes as possible. I'm about to pull the trigger on either a 30 OS Surpass or a Saito, but if I can get away from the air bleed carb on them and go up one notch to a Saito 40a which doesn't have that type of carb, and is in a 30 case and which weighs only one ounce more than the 30, I'm thinking about getting that.

I'm a self taught newby. Ive wanted a four stroke for 15 years. I just want to know if it would kill the beauty of the 48" Lazy Bee by going up that one little extra notch to a 40 power engine in a 30 case. Otherwise, I'm just gonna go ahead and get one of the 30's.

I would go for the 40 . You will have an engine that will fit many more aircraft then a 30 and one ounce is not a bad trade off. Don't worry about to much power. Remember thats what the throttle is for. Been flying Saito engines since 1988 and I have the first one the old Saito 45 and it still runs well.

I agree about the 40. People who recently purchased the 30 were caught off guard when the 40 came out I think. I would try to buy the best technology available. Things tend to change so fast these days.
