Hello, i would like to ask what type of puller you guys use for removal of the drive washer, no auto parts stores seem to carry the battery post puller, i did have one but it was junk, i see some on line but i thought i better ask, thanks, flyby50....

OS makes a very nice puller that works on their 40 to 61 size engines as well as the many OS clones. You can also buy a small gear puller that works very well. They aren't cheap but work great.

I use one of these to grip the hub then use a puller to pull the whole thing off

You can usually buy these at the auto parts or industrial supply store but they often try to gouge you for $100 for the set

I have used one of these for decades. I've never found a drive washer it can't remove (although sometimes a little heat helps).

I have a battery terminal puller from Sears that's a real beauty. Nice wide jaws, lots of range. Hafd it a long time but it may still be available.

When I replaced the bearings in a couple of my engines, I went to Auto Zone and they let me use their puller in their store. Auto Zone is just down the street from me. If I were to do engines all the time I would buy a puller.

Yes, it probably is overkill, but it works SO well..... I can be pretty confident that I can pull any thrust washer I will ever need to, and I can use it for other pulling operations as well.

Good deal on the puller.

You get on a big block Saito that's been jammed into the ground and you will need a little heat on the hub to get it off even with that outfit. So you didn't do an over kill by any means

Battery terminal puller are great, it is very cheap here in Norway and should cost only a couple of bucks in the US.

My experience with battery terminal pullers is that they are not strong enough to work on any of my engines that have a taper collet type prop drive hub. The fingers slip off and mare the finish on the hub. They just do not have the power to get the job done. They are just a waste of money.

I have a K-D just like the one Bill Vail has. It's in the tool box out in the garage. I just use it for battery terminals. It works great for that.
