Default Two fuel tank setup??

Comtemplating on some long distance flying .......
need ideas on how to set up 2 fuel tanks on the plane....what lines go where.??
Plane is a 40 size trainer. With a 300 cc tank , 2 line system .... one line to carb and another for muffler.
Now need to add a second tank by strapping it above the first tank.
Just wondering what lines are needed now so that i can use fuel from both the tanks.

all advice is appreciated.

Default Two fuel tank setup??

The pressure line from the muffler connects to vent side of tank #1.

The fuel line to the engine carb attaches to the fuel pick-up line on tank # 2

There is a interconnecting line between the fuel pick-up on tank #1 to the vent on tank # 2.

The fuel tank height is considered to be the average of the fuel level in both tanks combined.

Tank # 1 will have all it's fuel pushed through tank # 2 first. Then the engine will run from tank # 2 until all the fuel is gone.

Default Two fuel tank setup??

Jim
thanks for your advice. could you clarify... ??

1) since the plane is a trainer .... there is already one tank in the fuselage . as per your explanation this tank is # ?? ( 1 or 2 )

2) the strapped on tank will be above this tank so this is tank # ?? ( 1 or 2 )

so the top tank should empty into the lower tank ??
fuel draw is from lower tank to carb .
muffler pressure is in top tank.

the connecting line from top tank .....
should i use long line in the tank with clunk ( like in normal fuel tank) ... and in the receiving tank below use short tubing at high position in the tank say like for muffler pressure position.

will there be any potential problems in muffler pressure .... enough for both tanks?? assuming no leaks...

thanks again.

I posted a similar question awile ago and received the following picture from Minnflyer. Works good for me.

In this picture, the left tank supplies the engine, and the right tank supplies the left tank. Muffler pressure is applied to the tank on the right only. Try to avoid mounting the second tank higher, as this can cause the entire fuel supply to syphon through the carb and flood the engine.
