Questions About New MVVS 49
I just recieved a new MVVS 49 engine and I have a few questions about it.
- What is the recommended fuel for 750' above sea level for brake in and normal running. Presently all I have is Omega 10% and no LHS, is it okay?
- Recommended prop for break in?
- It came with mini tuned silencer #3248, how far apart should the header and pipe be, connected with the silicone tube?
Thanks
Pete

NorthernBoy, Pete,
As for break-in, use a 10x6, or a 10x7 prop.
As for the technique for break-in; it is an ABC type, tapered bore engine, that must be broken-in hot.
Use a rich two-cycle mode, from the first tank and do not allow it to run in four-cycle rich mode, for any length of time.
Do it as described in this thread:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/showthread...59&forumid=145
You can disregard the bashing at the end of the thread.
Do not use 10% nitro fuel in this engine.
It runs best with 0%-5% nitro and 10%, or more require an extra head shim, even at you altitude.
You can find 5% fuel with synthetic/Castor oil mix, even if you have to drive to get it. Use 20% total oil for break-in.
Mount the tuned silencer end-to-end with the header (1mm away). This setting should be correct with a 10x9, or with an 11x7 prop.
I would not recommend that you shorten the system, as this engine is a mid-RPM torquer, not a screamer.
If you intend to use a 12x6, or a 12x7, you can pull the #3248 back 1-2 cm (3/8"-3/4"), from the header.
Sincerely,,

Questions About New MVVS 49
DarZeelon
Thanks for your input.
I will try to pick up some 0 or 5% fuel and run it with that.
As for the prop and header length, I plan on putting the engine on a profile to do some 3D flying and not speed demon. So I looking at trying a 12X4 or 12.25X3.75 APC. What would you reccommend for prop and length.
Thanks

Fun fly
Pete,
The recommendation stays for these prop sizes too.
You will be getting slightly over 14K RPM.
If it gets closer to 15K, say over 14.6K, you may have to shorten the header by 1cm (3/8").

Questions About New MVVS 49
Definitely don't use 10% in the MVVS 49. You'll have loads of problems. In fact buy the cheap FAI (0%) fuel and the engine will perform flawlessly. 5% doesn't really get any performance gains on my 49.
