Asp 75
I'm thinking of swapping my almost new Irvine 53
(which I could never get running properly inverted) for a ASP 75.
I need the extra power for a Graupner Extra 300s (don't need extra costs of purchase).
My question is : are the ASP's any good.
one of the guy's on field swears by them, another can't stand them !
Thanks on advance

I did exactly that to my World Models Super Stunt 40 - replacing an Irvine .53 for an ASP 75. I dearly loved that Irvine .53 - one of THE best engines in that category I've run. But... I was looking for more power and didn't want to soup up the .53 to do that.
The ASP 75 was a good reliable motor. I did experience a slight mid-range richening when transitioning from idle to full throttle quickly. An idle bar plug made it a litle better. It may be because of the low nitro (5%) fuel I like to use. Or it might be due to the remote needle valve version I have. Get the carb mounted needle if you want to buy this one.
I have other ASPs that I like very much, particularly the ASP 1.20 4stroke. However, my recommendation, if you're looking for a budget .61-.75 2stroke, is the MDS 68. It has just as much power as most sport .75s and impeccable manners. Fires up on the first spin of the starter Sunday morning EVERY TIME.
If you want to try an ASP and are willing to spend a little more, I would suggest the new ASP .91S. It weighs the same as the .75 and has a bunch more power. It's a brand new design and a clone of the OS 91FX. I don't have this one, but will definitely buy one if I ever need a .91 2stroke.

Hi guy's
Does anyone know of a reliable Pitts muffler I can get for the 75 ?
I heard ASP's only like the stock muffler.
If I have to go adding a perry pump etc I'll return it for the OS91fx I think as it'll probably end up costing the same!
Thanks,
Rob

Speak to Just Engines. I'm running the new ASP 52S on a mini pipe, and its runs beautifully, very reliable and lots of power. I even ran the motor in on the pipe and have had no problems at all.

Hi Guy's,
Went out between the showers to run in my ASP on Saturday.
It fired with 1/2 a flick, and I got it ideling well within 1/4 of a tank.
Transition was crisp too considering how little it had run !
Went out yesterday with the model for a flight and watched as the guy's on the field sniggered that the ASP would never run.
Again it fired instantly (easier than my OS's ) and I was flying my new Extra 300S seconds later. It was V.V fast though and I rarely used more than 1/3 throttle. It's still a thursty bugger though 8 Oz's in 4 mins !
My first impressions were ugly lump of cr*p when I saw it.
Lets hope second impressions last !

Hi Volfy,
I took your advice sort of, I would have had to wait for the .91 and the .75 was carb mounted (As you suggested ) I thought it should be ok !
( Plus LHS takes stuff back if you don't like it )
So far so good !

Volfy,
Did you get setup instructions about blowing through the fuel inlet to set highend and idles needles ?
Mine seemed to be an add on from the distributors you guy's in the States might not have got !
