Default FOX .46 Muffler???

I have a FOX .46 BB with the FOX Silencer that screams but is very loud. The FOX Silencer is not very silent with a high pitch pop sound to it. I'm looking for any suggestions on how to quiet this thing down or even aftermarket muffler suggestions that I could use on it to reduce the noise level.
TIA
Mickie R.

Default Quieter

Just use one of those silicon elbows and it will take the edge off the sound.

Thanks for the reply. Are you talking about one of those extensions, like those made by Hobbico or some other silicone elbow. I'm not sure what you mean. Thanks again.

Have a look at the following webpage:

http://www3.bc.sympatico.ca/fliteline/project2.html

The site is is maintained by a couple of Canadian guys and specialises in the running and tuning of all Fox engines.

The corresponding page talks about how to lower the noise of a a Fox engine by 5 decibels.

I agree the elbow helps and doesn't affect the RPMs. I have a question for you. I have a Fox 46 BB and am having a terrible time getting it tuned. I thought it just wasn't broken in but I have a lot of time on it and have been getting a lot of dead sticks. I've tweaked until I'm blue in the face and it still quits on me. It runs fine at high speed but when I let it idle for 10-15 seconds or more and hit the trottle I'm getting an instant stop. Have you had any similar problems?

I meant to mention in my post that I have a Thunder Tiger 46 with a Tower Hobbies muffler that screams. I have never had a dead stick or even a sputter.

Sam , go have a look at the same website I mentioned re the muffler.

There are linkson the site that will take you to the section covering the Fox .46.

The guys who post that website seem to have all the answers on the idiosyncrosies of Fox engines and if you get stuck, just drop them an e-mail.

They helped me out with my .74R and also my .40 ABC, which now really perform after incorportating the changes they recommended.

In fact the Fox .74R now outperforms my Super Tigre .75R and the Fox .40 ABC is the best .40 sized engine I have in my "hangar"
