I've completed assembly of all the Digitrio and RCM Classic construction articles into PDF files. The Digitrio series includes all the followup articles I could find (4-channel and 6-meter options, and all the accessories), and is split into 2 parts the basic 7-article series, and then everything else that followed. RCM Classic is a single file. They're all around 16-18 Mb. I have uploaded them to DropBox, with the following URLs:
Digitrio 1st 7 articles:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/k89ngflnes...series%201.pdf
Digitrio last 16 articles (incl. a couple Ed Thompson columns):
https://www.dropbox.com/s/zwihh2b84l...nhancement.pdf
RCM Classic:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ypm240434w...%20Classic.pdf
Please note that I've added blank pages where necessary to allow viewing the files 2-up, preserving the way facing pages would have looked in the magazine. Also, the size of RCM was slightly different from 8-1/2" x 11", so I've composed the PDF as A4 (8.26" x 11.69"). It shouldn't make a difference if you print to letter-sized paper.
A hearty thanks to Jean-Pierre Piednoir, an RC Universe contributor, who provided all the material (pre-scanned!) that I lacked to finish this project.

The Digitrio material really brings back memories from my early proportional days in the 1960's. Thanks for making your scans available.

Thanks, nice work! What is amazing is to read the adds in the back of the magazines that had the Digitrio articles: they are full of people selling cases and stick assemblies for the DIY Digitrio home brewers. Over the years, I have seen many completed, and partially built Digitrios in many configurations; seems no two are identical.

I just located this thread. Thanks for doing all of the work to make the PDF's.
Ibuilt several of these for myself and other club members back in the 60's. I used Kraft Hayes 3 axis sticks (alieron, rudder & elevator) on mine.

I built two identical and still have both tucked away in a box somewhere. Now if I could just remember where!

Cwagl - Thanks for making the PDF or DigiTrio and Royal Classic avaiable. I was not able to download the PDF files. If possible please attach them and send to my email address: [email protected]
I was involved in the original mechanical design of the Royal Classic and Ed Thompson did the circuit design. I also did all the proto type test flying.

I can't remember how many Digitrios and Royal Classic systems I built in those days. Most of our local club members used systems I built for them or helped them debug. Frank Tiano's first radio system was a Royal Classic I built for him.
Did you ever get the PDF's? If not, I have them and can send them to you.

My first radio was a second-hand Digitrio in 1969 or '70. I was fascinated with electronics but other than building a 5-tube AM radio kit and a handful of smaller projects, I lacked a good understanding of electronics. However, that all changed in 1972 when I enlisted in the USAF and was sent to Keesler AFB to become a radar maintenance troop. After 9 months of electronics training, I was finally able to understand the Digitrio down to the component level.
That was a great time to be in electronics and R/C airplanes because technological advancements were happening in both very quickly! Great memories!
I sold my Digitrio (why oh why did I ever do that???) to a fellow airman in 1975. Over the past couple of years, I have collected all of the RCM Digitrio articles and have also bought a couple of old Digitrio transmitters on eBay. My intent is to put modern electronics in the boxes to use when flying some vintage models (with modern flight packs).

I got some of the info from vintagercfiles.com.
I don't need them would just like to have them.
I was around when the articles were published but was flying with Kraft gear.
I did build a classic though.
