Default RE: Galloping Ghost Transmitter

crigotti,

Let me advice you,

The trimmers,

The adjustable range of the Arco 424 trimmer is 25 pF - 150 pF
The adjustable range of the Arco 426 trimmer is 55 pF - 250 pF

Because you want to built the 27 Mc version you need the trimmer with highest value, so the 55 pF - 250 pF. but available until now is the 25 pF - 150 pF.
150 pF already is a high value for this kind of pi filters so when adjusting the transmitter maybe it will do. When you reach the highest value, and output power still is increasing you can switch a parallel capacitor over the trimmer with a value for example 50 pF.

I use thimmers of 30 pF and do the same. A profit is the adjustment is more rigid,

You'll understand the other way can give you problems, higher frequency and a higher value of capacitor. It's nearly impossible to lower the capacitor value only by serial connection.

Transistors often did have a color dot to indicatie the gain.
We also see the extention A / B / C etc.
For your transmitter there are several equivalent transistors available if the 2N2926 isn't there. It would be more difficult when germanium were used but I thougth these all were silicon transisitors, so "modern" isn't it? We have to check these first, ge or si!

The coil can be swapped with another one, we will look for data.
Important facts are windings and diameter and for the core as you wrote, material.

Cees

Default RE: Galloping Ghost Transmitter

I just noticed that on the e-radiocontrol site:

http://www.e-radiocontrol.com.ar/?Historia_del_R%2FC

There is a file for the ACE Sim-Pulse.pdf that describes some modifications to the Sim-Plus transmitter. The problem is that the pdf is poor quality and just good enough to see that I want to incorporate the mods. Does anybody have a beeter copy of this ACE manual that shows these mods?

TThe ACE Sim-Pulse.pdf file is just below the ACE Sim-Plus.pdf file which is a decent pdf.

Thanks.

It looks like RCU has fixed the upload file viewing problem. My parts list and layout are now visible.

Crigotti

After reading that document of post 28 I understand the modificaions.
To realize these I have to spend some time to evaluate because also in that document I discover a fault and so maybe there are more.
The description contents two modifications, the second is swap the CLC antenna for a BLC (Base Loaded Coil) antenna and the first modification is insert components to reduce the effect of RF radiation in the timing circuit. The first modification CAN be needed because there is mounted the coil of the BLC in the casing(second mod)!!

For sure is the CLC will give a wider range, so I doubt it is worth the effort. Maybe only for indoor use for example!
