I should be able to send to Germany although postage would be more....but I can't do paypal. Personal check is best...I could run a credit card through my business.

Hello all

Finally had some time to work on my Waco this weekend. I finished painting the black trim on the top wing finished hinging and painting the ailerons and struts that should have all the painting done. I have all the servo mounted and ready to hook up. I can’t do any more until I get my batteries. I’ll post some pic as soon as I get the wings mounted.
Happy Thanksgiving to every one

Mitch,

if you can accept a credit card, I would like to give you my details by phone as well. I would like to order 4 off the shirts. It is also to Germany so you may be able to calculate the postage. May be you can sent my and Big Boy shirts' in the same pakage. That will keep cost for shipment dow even if the shirts have top be sent either from me to BB or from him to me. So please be so kind and sent me a PM with your phone No and time so I can give you the details for the credit card.

depending how long it will take to get hold of the shirts there would be another posibility for me to get hold of the items. I will be in USA next year August. I will arrive in Charlotte which seems to be not so far from you!?!?!

I got my Pepino Waco home yesterday... it needs a little more TLC than I suspected, but it was still a good deal. Structurally, great shape, just a minor repair around the gear plate from some hangar rash.

I need to extend the firewall out about an inch to make room for my exhaust ring, and I ordered a new cowl from Fiberglass Specialties. their standard cowl is about 2 inches longer than the one on this plane, so that should work out fine with the extended firewall and motor depth.

I'm going to replace all of the servos, tailwheel, flying wires, etc.. then get a few flights in before deciding on a paint scheme.

One quick question on the painting... this plane is covered with 21st Century cloth and primed. What paints would you recommend for a good job? I've heard good and bad about spray paints, heard that house paint is heavy, automobile paint is good but difficult... etc... I've got a simple HPLV setup, but haven't tackled anything bigger than spinners and wheel pants before.

HELP

Every now an then I do something so stupid I just don’t know what I was thinking. As you can see I placed my NC number to high on the wing (I know dum dum) Question is how do I get it off with out pulling off any yellow paint? Any suggestions will be appreciated I just hate the way it looks.

Well, I got lucky vary slowly with heat I was able to get the n number off with out damaging my wing. I’ll get Charlie (CFC Graphics)to make me another decal and pay more attention next time.

Thanks for the heat suggestion.

My Waco ARE has "cuffs" on each of the interplane struts. Does anyone have a nifty way of making these? - or is it the old glue and sand balsa. Dario shows them as fiberglass, as shown below. Got to make 8 - all different! Appreciate any thoughts!

Does Anyone happen to have the formula for finding CG or (center of balance) for a tapered wing handy? Would be a huge help. Also, Hope all the Waco Brothers and Sisters and thier families have a wonderful Thanksgiving day. Eat till you pop lol.

Bill,

I don't have the formula for CoB on tapered wings. Check the Pattern or Jet forums and do a search for MAC (Mean Aerodynamic Chord).

Tapered wings is simple. You can do it with a 'scale drawing' of the wing, or...measure half way out from the airplane centreline and make a mark with a waterbased felt tip pen. Mark from the leading edge to the trailing edge, parallel to the fuselage centreline, a series of dots. This line is the 'Mean aerodynamic Chord'. (provided the wing is tapered, not swept). Simply project your desired balance as calculated using this line, back to the fuselage to find the balance. For a 25% balance, measure 1/4 back from the leading edge, and project it to the fuselage, ditto for any other desired balance.
