I have a feeling that I know where he got them. That's a road that we went down over 2 years ago. The templates that are owned and are property of the Waco Brotherhood, have all rights reserved. We (the Brotherhood) were nice enough to allow the AMA to include them with the plans, and do not charge for their use for a personal single build. This does not include the commercial use of these templates. They remain the property of the Brotherhood nonetheless. Hopefully anyone knowing enough to kit a model commercially, should be smart enough to know what that means.

Bill,
The plans he shows on the web sight are the earlier (pre 1990) 3 page plans. The AMA supplies the 1990 2 page plans (and templates if you ask for them). It is a real dissapointment that Rich has not come through with the kits as hope, especially for those who wish to build a Waco but lack the equipment and/or time to cut thier own kit.

P.S. - The last dated update on his site is Dec 10th and is about the Waco.

Charlie,

It sounds like you recieved a Long Kit w/out plans or CD manual.

Richwood R/C Kits "Long Kit -

This kit contains all of the wing ribs, fuse formers, and pre-bent wire parts such as the cabane and landing gear wire, and a set of printed plans. Construction manual provided on CD-Rom. Note Although we call this a Long kit, you must supply the balsa sticks, and sheeting to complete this project. We supply you with all templated parts."

Charlie - "to all I orderd a comp kit [short] from rckitmasters on 10/30/09 pd in full and as of to day have only recieved wing ribs , formers , wires , no other parts sent many e-mails trying to get the balance with no responce , so I would NOT order anything from him in the future in fact ever again just my 2 cts worth "

Wing Ribs - Check
Formers - Check
Wires - Check
CD Manual - ?
Printed Plans - ?
Balsa Sticks - Not Supplied as Stated
Sheeting - Not supplied as Stated

I would send him one more note asking him for the plans and CD that you say are lacking. Plans and manuals are available elsewhere if you do not succeed with Richwood and the build can proceed. Yes it is frustrating to not get a response from a supplier (and a poor business practice) but alternatives can be found.

And no, I have no relations or connections with Richwood other than the previously mentioned corrections to his site.

If he is actually selling these so-called short kits, I wonder why he wouldn't respond to e-mails and other correspondance related to one of his kits. Customer service is all that seperates the good ones from the bad ones.

Hey Larry, how have you been? Glad to see you posting. I have almost finished the current project, then I can take the WACO off the shelf that I purchased last year and start on it. Will be (hopefully) posting pictures soon. Take care!

I check in here every day but just can't get back in the mood on the WACO. Very little to be done for what I am going to do with it. I tried to sell it last year but no one wanted it so I am just plugging away on it to get it done. The engine part is what is holding me back. I am not sure and don't want to take chances with to small of engine, 120YS.It probably is just me.

I have rebuilt 2 60 size and 2 30% totals this winter and am ready to fly if we don't get kicked out of our flying sight by a guy that built a house at the north end of our run way and is crying NOISE and wants us out[:@]

Eleven down, 124 to go. Best I could do, but only one YMF in the bunch. maybe it will encourage the building to begin.

But Ken, You didn't show the YMF. Do you need me to identify the Wacos at the Fly Out breakfast for you at Mark's place? You know I can.

I can only come up with 44 different Wacos[&o]

A 120 will fly the wings off of it. Remember, it was designed for a .60-.90.

If you're talking about the two cabin Waco's, the yellow one (to the right on the pic) is an SRE, I think the other one is a QCF, but Skylark could tell you better. John, as far as pointing out the only YMF there, it's the one in the middle of this line:

Almost.......I'm ready to maiden my TopGun entry 30% Waco YMF Classic. Hoping for good weather on Thursday. No one except my helper should be at the field....that's how I like it for first flights.
Here's a pre-emptive thanks to all the folks in the brotherhood for help and advice along the way. Skylark....I'm most appreciative that you're such a fountain of Waco knowledge. Here's a new question for you....what's the diameter of the prop hub retainer and the size of the castellated nuts? Thanks to the Chief for putting this thread together and staying on top of it.
I'll post pix after the flights. Kinda funny.....I've been building and flying these things for many years...maidened the B-17 and flew it for years with no knee shaking or white knuckles, but this one..................
I wonder if getting to be a graybeard has anything to do with it. Mitch WB100
