Got in some progress on mine. New windshield installed, as well as a simulated cover for the front `pit. Have the pilot on a birdhouse stand to bring him to the proper position. Figured I`d hold it to the rear bulkhead with velcro. Looks a bit too wobbly and I can still reach the switch and remote glow adapter, so removal may not be necessary after all. Added more glass to the inside of the cowl to help replace the cutaway for the original exhaust opening. Unfortunately, due to the orientation it ends up in the 1 O:clock position and sticks out like a ....... Was wondering if a simulated carb inlet would be too far out of line.

FINALLY have some interplane strut attachments that increase my confidence level. Added ply blocks cut with 4-40 blind nuts to fit the wing and brass flange shape. After several unsuccessful attempts to use thick CA to bond them on, (brass was a bit too flexible and kept breaking the bond) I ended up using something called GLOO. Remains flexible, so should do a better job.

For now it`s on to final systems install. The Rx will likely have a dedicated 4 cell NiMH, but have to decide on 2S LiPo or LiFE packs for the servos, (with some way to monitor their health).

Hello all,
Been kind of quite the past few days so I thought I’d give an up date on the tee shirt count. So far we have 16 names on the list with a count of 25 shirts.

1/5 Pica YMF-5. Posted some pics a few pages ago. Need to take some more of the latest changes.

Have set it aside for a week or two while cleaning up some other projects, (one of which is transferring programming over to the newer T9 Tx). Have not decided yet, but will likely go with the JR 10X setup for this one. No need for the sophisticated options, just trying to separate out different sections of the fleet.

Will also try and pick up some 2S LiFE packs tomorrow and use one for onboard power. Have a few different regulators if the voltage is too high.

As for the weather, even though this has been a bizarre and endless seeming winter, it's living up to the adage, "If you don't like the weather, wait three hours. If you don't like the season, wait three days". Monday evening into Tuesday we had 6" of snow that had to be cleaned up. By late Wednesday it was raining and the temp had hit close to 50 F with grass starting to show through. Not over yet, but may be able to get back at the landscaping and preparing for the upcoming flying season.

One good thing is the van no longer looks like I work in the salt mine. Have yet to see if the Waco fits for transport in one piece. If so I may think of adding flying wires. Too much work otherwise.

No longer. Had a 75 XR7 that started life with an anemic 400 Cleveland. Luckily I found it had the C6 truck tranny, which allowed me to fit a big block. Found a 69 Merc XL Police Special and with a bit of modding stuffed that in. By the time I was done had a Lincoln rear axle with posi and disc brakes. Since I had a brake and front end shop at the time it was simply a matter of making everything work together, (master cyl, proportioning valve, etc.). Had a top speed in excess of 155 MPH, but anything over 100 had it fly like a cabin cruiser on rough water.

That mod worked so well I adopted 4-wheel disc to my 79 Cherokee. Had Chrysler engineering over to have a look at what I did and how.

Unfortunately, living up here in the "Salt Belt" means vehicles don't normally last as long as we want, (especially if using lower quality sheet metal and no protection-typical of the era).
