I have some pics of the Waco i just picked up to share. It's the Barth 33% with a Brison 6.4. It's got a couple dings in it, but overall I'm very happy with the condition of this airframe. I want to replace all the servo's and electronics before I fly it, and give it a through going over as well, inside and out. There are some small twists and warps in the tailplane, but nothing that would keep it from flying in a scale manner, I have some concerns with some slop in the bell crank system on the elevators. There are two servo's in the hatch behind the cockpit, running 2 heavy duty sullivan style pushrods to a bellcrank buried under the stab. At worst there is about 3/4" of play in the elevators. I'm sure some minor adjustments would eliminate most of this play, but gaining access to them may be a much greater challenge. I looked for references on the system in the plans, but found nothing. If anyone has some insight it would be appreciated. I also found that the servo arm on the tailwheel had broken off and the loose clevis on the tailwheel's horn got wedged between some structure in the aft part of the fuse. A little tension on the loose wire got it straightened out.
Here are some pics. I really look forward to the day I can start getting this plane back into flying condition! In the pics where the plane is assembled it's sitting on a 6' wide table. It takes up a chunk of room in my tiny garage on a 32" wide table!

Okay, I was talking with Dan and he tells me that we don't have nearly enough commitments for shirts to make a viable order. Get off the dime and let him know how many and what sizes. If we don't get at least 100 shirts on the order, it won't happen, unless you like the idea of paying somewhere north of 50 bucks per shirt. These printers, have minimum orders.

I'm working on mine again, just nothing to write home about. I also hope the shirt orders start coming in. I want a couple too. I'm quite surprised that out of the amount of brothers here only a couple want shirts.

But, to the point of increasing order size, sometimes the email thread notifications on this site stop. So possibly other brothers are not getting the message. Perhaps it might be possible to do a Waco-group PM/email specifically promoting a T-shirt order (is that allowed?).

I know that I gave my order to Dan a few weeks back, now with that being said I can remember when some one asked about getting a new batch of shirts ordered up,and Steve & Dan jumped in to get the ball rolling along with Bill(# 1) and Mitch, as far as I know to date there are a couple of dozens ordered, so Gentleman, ITS TIME TO WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE AND GET THESE ORDERS IN. Otherwise at this rate we'll be wearing the new shirts in December.

They also made a 1/5th scale kit and there's one of those up for bid on flea-bay right now:

Clarkflyfast,
As already pointed out Pica made 2 sizes of the "YMF" Waco Bi Plane - 1/6th At 5' span and a !/5th at 6' span. From my observations both kits use the same construction, just different size materials. I would suggest getting a copy of the revised manuals and make the changes necessary to have a stronger, more scale (if that is your desire) aircraft. I used Quotes around the YMF designation because Picas original subject was fitted with the Jacobs Engine - YMF (evenly spaced rocker bumps on the cowl) and the Continental Engine - UMF (paired bumps). It had, a Continental engine with a Jacobs cowl at one time, not sure if the correct cowl has been fitted at present. At model sizes, just a cowl change is all that is needed to change from YMF to UMF. Availability of the different cowls may be the challenge. There is a ton of info in this forum, any questions, just ask.

Looking good!
I pm'd for 2 xl shirts. Don't know if it was part of the count.
Why not have the design printed onto the shirts instead of the plastic patch silk screen? I believe vista print will sell shirts with whatever design for about $20 each. If not, I know there are other shops that specialize in small run orders. I have a company that did 40 shirts for my 3d throwdown event for $14 each. Surely, ypu dont need 100 shirts to get a good price. Plus, I hate the sweat patch you get from traditional screen printing.

Thanks skylarkmk1, I saw a photo of of a full scale Waco with the front screen made with piano hinge, apparently this allows them to remove and fold for storage in the plane when they wish to have it set up for a one seat'r.

No problem. Most of the early Waco's has one piece Plexiglas front wind screens, others have 3 or 5 piece screens with solid frames in the normal style or with low height and severe swept back (center section at about 30° or maybe less) for streamlining . The hinged versions are like yours - 3 or 5 sections with frame, or 3 or 5 sections with out frames (I believe Plexiglas type panels), outer panels were curved, not straight like a framed unit. Each Waco could have any of the wind screens but are hinged units are mostly seen on the later models such as the YMFs. Haven't seen a folder on a UPF yet.
