Default Topflite 1/7 P-51D Wing Building

Hi,
I am building this kit and see that the jig tabs on the wing are designed with wash out. I am unable to get the wing to warp like the design intended, but instead I have a super straight wing. Will this cause problems? Are there any tips you can give me to get the washout designed? Also, the sheeting takes place after the jib tabs are removed, thus making it hard to correct this with sheeting. Please let me know. Thanks.

The airplane wing is designed with washout. The jig tabs will tell you that, but I can't get this washout. My wing comes out straight. I wan't to correct it with sheeting, but the instructions say to remove the jig tabs before sheeting. This would make my guage of how the wing is shaped, gone. Get what I am saying?

If the building table is straight, and the wing is laid onto the table so that all the tabs are seated onto the building surface, the correct amount of washout should wind up built into the wing. It's only a few degrees, and may not be readily visible to the naked eye. An incidence gauge will pick it up, though.

Did any of the jig tabs have extra flashing on them that wasn't cleaned off?

I dont think so, but after the wing was built, the jig tabs toward the wing tips were no longer touching the table. I had the wing weighted throuhgout the whole build, but once I finished the wing and removed the weights, the tabs weren't touching the table anymore towards the end of the wing. Is this okay? Will it dramatically effect the flying? It looks like a very straight wing, but haven't checked with an incidence meter. Maybe the washout is there and I just can't see it? Is the washout supposed to be as much as the jig tabs suggest (touching the table after the wing is built?) Thanks.

Alright, put the incidence meter on the wings tonight and both only showed a .25 degree washout. This is probably due to the fact that the jig tabs dont touch, but I built the plane with weights, etc on the wing. Any tips on wetting and placing weights down to get the right amount of washout, or tips on correcting this issue? Thanks.

Per the instructions, the first side of the wing that's sheeted is done so with the jig tabs on the building board. The instructions even tell you to glue the tabs to the board, if necessary. The entire surface of the wing is then sheeted. Once the glue's cured, the wing will be stable enough to hold the proper amount of twist.

Oh Okay. Thanks baxter, I must have misread. I will reread the instructions tonight. Sorry for the question, but thanks for the answer. You have been plenty of help!
