Default Tail rotor one way only

My maiden voyage was more akin to the Titanic than I liked and so I am now becoming fairly familiar with the new parts I needed to install. One issue I am having is that after replacing the tail rotor motor it only works in one direction. Originally I had the red wire soldered to the + but it would rotate to the left (when facing it from behind) when I gave right rudder (I'm fairly certain but it was late last night, I can redo the wires if this seems totally wrong). I switched the wires and now when I push right it spins right. The problem is that nothing happens when I push left besides the rotor stopping. I tried unplugging the main motor to try with more throttle but that did not produce any results. Would this be the settings in the manual on page 11? Also, when the tail motor is first spinning up at its lowest power its kind of jerky, might I have the gears connecting too tight? Any insight on this is very welcome

Jay

This is normal. When you give right rudder, the motor should speed up to yaw the heli right. When you give it left rudder, it will slow or stop, and the torque from the main rotor supplies the force to turn left. The tail motor doesn't reverse.

Well, that just makes sense... As you can tell I didn't have it up in the air too long. Thanks for the info Ost.
