Default Stupid Axe CP tail question that I couldn't find the answer to...

I just got my Axe CP after lots of flying it sim on real flight. I have been going through Radd's and I am pretty pysched to get it in the air soon. Here's my question: Should my tail blade spin in both directions? I can only make it turn clockwise.

Thanks,
Andrew

No, it only thrusts to the right.

Is there any reason that on RealFlight you can control it in both directions?

The tail rotor is there to counteract the torque from slinging the main blades around-- since they spin clockwise, the heli wants to spin counter-clockwise (turn to the left) from the reaction, so all that's needed to turn left is to slow or stop the motor and around it goes. The tail rotor turns at a middling speed to stay straight, and speeds up to turn right.

I see. It's odd that on RealFlight the heli reacts when you push the left stick to the left but on the real heli it does nothing. When the tail starts up will it get enough speed to hold position, that i won't have to hold it in place like at low speeds. It takes awhile before mine fires up.

Thanks!

Hmmm.... it's not supposed to act that way. You might want to start a thread describing what it does and see if the folks that fly the Axe a lot can help out. You should have left as well as right yaw control.

[edit] Unless you're saying it doesn't turn left when the main rotors aren't running-- if that's it, then that's just helicopters for you .

Haha, thanks. I just put another battery through and as I got up to higher speed the tail rotor kicks in. Then when i push left it shuts down the rotor and it spins hard. Thanks for your patience with the newb. Can't wait to get flying!

welcome to helicopters. They're complicated, simple, frustrating and satisfying, and we have a lot of fun with them. Enjoy, Andrew.
