You'll have to use a soldering iron to remove the wires from the tail motor. There is a screw holding the tail case on, remove that and pull it off. THe boom will come out of the airframe once you loosen the screws. I am sure the manual describes this process.

Right, there are 4 screws that surround the tail boom where it fits into the frame. Make a note of what wire goes where on the tail motor.

the manual is not that great. I know my next heli will be in kit form. Would you guys suggest any upgrades for this section at this point while i have my bird apart. And any suggestion on blade replacements( plastic, or longer, or any thing else)? thanks again.

I just had to replace my tail boom the other day, so I am going to give you some advice that I learned in the process.
#1 If you havent heard already you can use # 11 knitting needles from Walmart, they are $3 for a set of two so its much cheaper then the stock $14 one and works just as good if not better.
#2 When taking the wires off the motor make sure you mark which goes where.
#3 Make sure you route the wire though the tail motor support before you solder it back to the motor. I had to cut mine off again and re-solder it again because I didnt.
#4 I know it seems like a simple thing, but you can save yourself I lot of trouble if you just slow down and double check everthing you are doing, it will save you from doing stuff twice.
Thanks to HelisRule for the pic.

Well, the kintting needles require modification. You'll have to cut it to the right size and drill a hole for the tail screw. It would be a good learning experience.

1. Cut off the end with the cap (some have been able to just pull it off, I had to cut mine) I use this end for the tail mount.
2. Cut a little bit off of the end with the taper. If you use this end for the side that goes into the heli you dont have to cut if flush, just make it big enough to get the wires though.
3. You will need a 7mm (someone correct me if I am wrong) drill bit to make the inside of the needle big enough for the mount, then drill a little hole for the screw.
I might make a "How-to" with pics the next time I have to do it. But its easy, you shouldnt have a problem

I didn't have a soldering iron on hand, so I just carved the micro dean's plug to fit through the boom...it isn't beautiful, but it works without soldering. I now have my soldering iron out of storage, so I'll do it "right" the next time!
