I'm looking for a cheap HH Gyro for my AXE CP, will the E-SKY HH gyro work?
Here's the link for it

Is it worth it money wise to add a HH gyro like the 401 to a Axe CP? When I was in my LHS they kept telling me that it would be a waste of money to put a HH gyro on a Axe CP, and that using the money for another better heli would be less of a waste. Now I see the upsell here, but is there any truth to the fact that upgrading a entry level RTF heli with a gyro that costs the same if not more than the whole kit would be a waste?
Does the HH gyro make the Axe a little less "squirlly"? From those that have installed HH gyros on to an Axe CP was there a noticable difference in how the heli flew? I am leaning towards just putting a gyro on my Axe but I don't want to waste money either.
Thanks

Is the stock transmitter still able to be used or is a better transmitter needed to add, say, the GY240? I'm thinking about adding a gyro in the future, figure then I'll have one for another machine

However I think the GY 401 costs more or about as much as the AXE CP itself

thanks for the thread, but will this work for any HH gyro??? The reason i'm not using the helimax instructions is because they want you to spend upwards of another $100 + change to do this and in my eyes it's not worth upgrading this heli I understand and know that you can take the parts with you when you move up in heli's but. It's just not in my budget right now.. i'd rather settle for a $35 gyro and not really care if I nosedive into the ground at full throttle with the gyro on board. That's why I'm trying to find a "cheap" alternative to add a HH gyro.

I have the 240 on a Axe and it works great, I tried using a telebee gyro and when I hooked it all up and turned it on it lasted all of 5 seconds before it went up in smoke. If you can afford it try and find a used 240 in the classifieds here or at Rcgroups, I see at least one or two for sale all the time.
P.S. If you decide to use the C-12 esc be aware that the voltage cutoff is higher than the stock 3-1 unit which if your not timing your flights will cause you to lose tail control before the 3-1 unit low votage cutoff kicks in.

I pulled the 401 out of my Raptor and put it in my AXE. Total over kill. I also pulled the Rx and the 3 in 1 and put a Electron 6 in it. I am running it with an DR6000.
I have used CHEAP gyros, they suck. I had an original Tele bee gyro. It was great for about 5 flights. It drifted like a wind sock. I have a Walkera WX-G006 sitting here. Send me a PM. It works, thats about all I can say about it.
I am no fan of Futaba. The 240 and 401 are fantastic gyros. The 401 took all of about 4 minutes to install in the AXE. I did install it with the stock radio, I was just getting to many hits on it. I did not want to risk a nice gyro with the stock single conversion Rx.
If the wind would calm down to the low 20's I may try to fly. It has been blowing like crazy here. I can not wait to see how she flies with the 401 in it.

I just bought a used 401 from a friend for $50, I'm going to put it on my Axe this weekend if I have time. I need to buy a Spektrum RX so I can pair it to my DX6i too.
Is it basically the same instructions for a 401 that it is for a 240? Seems simple enough but figured I would ask. I really would rather keep the 3-1 board, if it weren't for the deal I got on the 401 it would still have the stock rate gyro
