Default Futaba 401 Problems on Axe

Ok...I am at my wits end with this thing...I am hoping it is something I am just over looking.
I have been having problems getting the Futaba 401 to work on either of my Axes.
They are set up completely different...I use the Spectrum DX6i TX
First one I have 6 Series Eflite brushless 6 pole moter 2000kv 35A Electrifly Brushless ESC with 24 tooth 64 pitch pinion and the 12A Electrifly brushed ESC for the tail...
Second one I am running stock motor with 20A Esky brushed ESC and the 12A electrifly brushed ESC for the tail.
I have tried to get the 401 to work with either of these helis and it causes the tail motors to pulse so I can not get it to hold the tail at all....I have tried everything I can think of to get this to work. Anyone have any ideas????

BTW...I have a cheapie Esky HH Gyro that will work fairly well on both helis...

Edwinssiv

What is your gain setting on channel 5 or the gyro channel? Does the DX6i have a switch or a knob for the gain setting?

Sounds like the gyro gain is set too high.

I put a GY 401 in my AXE with the same issue. Could not get it to stop pulsing. I ended up going back to the stock 3 in 1 and stock Rx. I had better luck with the 240 with the stock setup. I had issues with the tail ESC so I went back to stock again. Am getting ready to try the 240 with the stock setup. Using the stock 3 in 1 to power the tail and see how that goes.

Pilot...With the 6i it is all in the prgram, similar to the DX7....I have tried to lower the gain, raise the gain, raise and lower the delay, raise and lower the travel, messed with the subtrim settings...Which helps a little...because I can start the tail motor spinning before I have power to the blades...but that of course causes the heli to start a slow piro until you add power the main blades...then in the air you can still see the pulsing.
I have the freestyle hobby belt upgrade coming so I am sure it will work fine with that...I will then move the cheapie Esky back to my more stock one for my wife to learn on....until I get the urge to upgrade hers [sm=angel_smile.gif]

Be sure the gryo is enabled on the radio. I finally figured this out when I set up my JR Voyager on my Futaba 7C. Yhe switich would turn the gryo from rate to HH, but the gain even though I was changing the percentage on the radio, was not changed in the gyro until I enabled it, talk about tail wagging!
