Where do those two small bushings go on the main shaft? They seem to have come out of nowhere! I don't want to guess either.

One goes on top of shaft collar and presses against the underside of the upper bearing and the other between the bottom of the gear and bearing.

Hey guys. Still out of commision because of snow now. Does anyone need a set of Traxxes turnbuckle camber links. 58mm front or rear. Tower messed up and sent me them by mistake. They don't want them back either. If you can use them let me now.

He's right that is where the two bushings go, one on top and one tight up against the bottom.
R/C couldn't find a tail blade or are you missing other stuff too? Tower is usally pretty good at sending out the right stuff. (till you really need it ) Chaseman81 PS one of these fingers does'nt look like the others ouch! |

You mean one of the bushings goes between the main gear and bottom bearing??!!?[:o] OOPS!! I guess the next time I tear somethng up I will correct mine. :eek:
I have tried to post some pics of my AXE and haven't had any luck, I do a REPLY and in the box at the bottom where it says to attach files, I attach the files from my computer. It never goes through, It uploads the files or at least it says it does and the pics and my text never gets added. Am I missing a critical part? |

The tail blades are on their way. I have probly placed somewhere around 50 orders through tower. This is the first time I have had a problem. Sometimes they have even upgraded my shipping to priority mail. I called up and they helped me right away and put in to have a new set of blades sent out tomorrow. They didn't even want what they sent me back, so unless anyone can use them I am going to put them on ebay. (Traxxes turnbuckle camber linkages.)

Got a tip for the lucky ones who have the CNC blade grips. In my case I had to grind about 0.5 mm off the feathering shaft to make it work tight and smooth.

Problem:
After handling the Axe CP for about a month now I've been hovering and floating along with some easy circles and the like. I got a little greedy after a time and started going a little harder into the constant heading turns. SPLUT! [:@] Blew out a blade grip. [:o] Repaired the bird, and now the tail is all over the place when just trying to hover. Mind the fact that it was the bigest pain to get the pitch reset, and then tracking after that (and rebalancing the chipped blades), it seems like the tail gain is now WAY too high. (I think I may have warped the feathering spindle) :eek: I reviewed the thread here, and the manual about the Gyro, and was able to reduce the gain and make it 'better', but it still seems like the gyro doesn't want to hold. It just keeps letting go no matter how much I trim it or screw with the pots on the E-Board. I can get it off the ground after a fashion, but after 5 seconds in the air the tail takes off and becomes over sensitive. [sm=confused.gif] At this point I've only had my axe for less than two months, and I've read through the options for upgrading the Gyro to a HH unit (either the GY2xx or the GY4xx), which, based on my reviews, both require the micro ESC that Heli-Max lists. Question: If the E-Board took a hit or just had an overall mechanical warranty failure (and Hobbico/Heli-Max won't replace it), does it make sense that I can just wire up one of the aforementioned HH Gyros as spec'd and move on? Which Gyro should I choose? I see that the GY4xx unit has an option for transmitter variable gain control, however the stock Heli-Max radio has no such channel (obviously for a better radio). What are the PRO/CONs to either the GY4xx or GY2xx solutions when thinking of the AxeCP or moving the HH Gyro to a different copter in the future? TIA! ------------------------------------- UPDATE: ( a few hours later) Perhaps I have answered my own questions, however I have gone forward and purchased a GY401 and micro ESC from Tower, and am now awaiting their expedited arrival. I contacted Hobbico/Heli-Max, and was given a pretty gruff response from a tech there, basically send in the board, and wait two weeks +/-. [:@] That's of course if I UPS Red it to them. They won't even return ship 2-day. Grrr... At this point my new Gyro probably won't be here until first thing next week, but if I send out my E-Board it'll get there about the same time 2-day, and then two weeks from that. [>:] Considering the statements from many that say as long as the E-Board itself is stable for servo operation, I'll let the new Gyro do the rest of the work. My biggest worry now? Strtykrincognito, the gyro mod. is definately worth the money and time. As far as which gyro to use, if you plan on getting a better heli in the future you might get a better gyro so you can swap it to the new bird. I installed the gyro Hobbico suggested and the difference is incredible. Set the tail and forget about it!

Ok guys, my wallet just hurled again: $45 for a whole new tail assembly and main gear.
The problem is this: I can't get past Step 1 unless everything is factory spec. The entire complex system must pass QA 100%. Especially the darn tail. If it failed in flight and the Axe went down in a bent heap I could only blame myself. Better to pay up. Its just the cost of learning to fly. I knew going into the deal it would not be cheap. BUT I had made so much progress so quick and then suddenly boom boom and I'm on my 3rd set of blades. I intend to keep these a while. So now I have a spare tail motor with no gear... might come in handy if I can get a new gear on it. Also replaced the main gear. No sense going half way on the repairs. Tomorrow, she'll be 100% pass QA and in spec. Then I will VERY carefully get the tail dialed in - I really want to nail down my 3-in-1 board settings, and NOT crash in the process!!! I can hardly believe its like this after I've been flying patterns 100' up with this thing - but its imperitive to start at the beginning when complex systems backfire. |

plus I am down for a few days too. I hate that part. I took it outside practicing side in and the wind blow me backwards tail first into the ground ARRGGGG! should of hit the power nad be gone but Dumb thumbs took over and you guessed it. Back to the hanger for some repairs. Have to say though this heli is pretty tough. But sh*t happens fast. You think you've got it and then you don't react fast enough and your a heli mechanic once again. [&o][&o][&o]:eek:[&o][:o] |

I here you guys im in the same boat. Just drop another $40 on Max this weekend not to include the $50 i did two days before that. "MY WIFE LOVES ME RIGHT NOW!!!!!!" Ya right... Just the look on her face when i came in the house yesterday after i just piled up the old heli. If looks could kill LOL... So back to the LHS. "OH wait "I forgot there out of parts, too have to wait tell a week from this Wednesday. OH ya Ill get them from Towerhobbies thers another 5 days..... LOL I HATE WAITING FOR PARTS!!!!!!! Life Sucks guess i better learn to fly better...

Fixed!! I was getting ready to remove the stock tail motor, but then I saw those two little screws were not in there correct positions, and were probably loose!!
Duh I never got in close enough to see until now. Clearly the only real problem was initially the tail took a bang and when out of position, deteriorated the gears. A close look at the brass pinion gear shows its still OK. It has a fresh tail rotor gear on it and now sounds fine at all speeds!! Whew@!@! I can get credit at the LHS now - no problem the guy is cool. And its not chittering!! Ok, much closer to making progress again. A good going over as a pre-flight check and I am ready to begin re-learning the hopping and sliding again... takin it slowwwwww... |

Guys what the hell is goin on. I just crashed again too. Nother 25 dollars. Hardwyrd, I Know that look, got it from my mom the other day when, after replacing a tail boom and mount, walked into the house with and the landing skids, blade grip, and see saw were destroyed. I got to many obsticles in my front yard. Flew without a crash for three weeks in my back yard. Second flight in my front yard and she was in the dirt.

Wow lots of crashing going on around here lately. My bird is now back to 100% after my crash last Friday. It cost me about $50 including a new set of rotor blades. I think I am going to take it much slower now as well. After hovering in my garage I am having some trouble keeping oriented once the heli gets up around 10'-15' off the ground. I did decide to ditch the trainging gear last night hopefully will not need to reinstall it again. I agree that parts for this bird are pretty pricy. However, I just priced out a new T-Rex 450SA today at my LHS and it totaled right around $700. I promised myself that I must become proficient at flying the Axe before I can move up. If I keep crashing my Axe and dropping $50 to fix it I will never be able to save up the cash to get a T-Rex. Everyone fly straight and keep safe!

I tell ya Its been a bad week for me and heli's . Im rebuilding my raptor 50 ther's was $200 had to wait about 6 day's for the parts from heliproz ,felt like 6 weeks. Got the parts started putting back together and I FREAKING forgot to order a flybar rod. Im so @&*% mad at myself right now. So i order the parts last night at 12:30am from heliproz and put it on 3 day air/ground so i could have them by Friday. "O-YAAAA they didnt ship out today. This must be a sign from GOD.

hye guys im new to this stuff and i went out and got the axe cp had a few little crashs and now im doing pretty good but i can not get the tail to stick on the e-board adjustments there are 3 of them what do they all do and witch way should i trun them any help would be great thanks

The Axe has a stablizing gyro not a HH-gryo. I would use the trims on the radio and not mess with the pots on the e-board. It is test flown at the factory and set to preform.
I have read of many people that change the settings and have much trouble getting it right again. I have flown mine from the start with stock everything except the battery. it is a nice flying heli. I know my crash the other day was me being to fast and not taking my time. I was practicing side in hover and a gust of wind blow me back tail frist into the ground. Main blades, blade grip, tail motor mount. I had a blade grip from the last crash. $29 and change tower. I think the blades are a little pricy and S&H was 3.99 So $25 was just blades and S&H. In two crashes two sets of mains, two tail motor mounts, two tail blades, one fly bar, and a main gear. I think that says allot about this little heli for toughness....[>:] |
