I purchased a used pattern plane and it has an HS80MG servo on the throttle. I noticed on Hitec's website that this servo is discontinued. I would like some information on this servo, torque, speed and can I use a 6 volt battery pack on this servo? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The HS-80 was superseded by the HS-81, virtually the same specs. Around .09 on 6.0V, nylon or metal geared. 6.0V is fine... Probably not the best servo for a precision model, especially on throttle.

Thanks Michael, What servo would you recommend to replace it. I do need the same size because I can't enlarge the servo mount any more. Thanks, Mark

If size is an issue, you might as well leave it be until such time the gear train needs service. There really aren't any servos in this size range that are going to offer marked improvements in precision.
