Default Eclipse 7 to be issued in Jan. 2003

Would the new Eclipse 7 to be issued in Jan 2003 have:

FM and PCM combined capability or there would a newer model with only PCM capability?

Would the PCM receiver be significantly more expensive compared to your Supreme Universal model?

Thanks,

Rani

The new version of the Eclipse will be both FM and PCM capable. The new "Q" PCM receiver will cost more than the FM but I don't know exactly how much at this time.

FYI: "Q" stands for quick. The new QPCM receiver will have the fastest responce of any PCM reciever on the market.

We have not determined how the upgrade will be implemented yet. When we do it will be posted on our website.

No, there have been no major software changes other than adding QPCM and a couple minor changes. The model name shows up at start up and the trims automatically display on the when accessed.

Add my voice to those looking for crow in the acro mode! I was holding off my purchase decision to see if this feature would be added.

Given that there are open mixes available on this TX wouldn't it be possible to set up crow "manually"?

Crow on one switch is not possible but you get it to work with two.

If it can be done with 2 switches, can the setting then be saved as a "flight condition".

I also think another item is very important - the ability to use two channels for elevators. There are a couple of ways to do it - but none are close to acceptable to me. Very poor programming that needs to be changed.

Why would you need to run seperate channels for elevators? Obviously you would have two elevator servos, but why wouldn't running them off a Y-cable be satisfactory?

You can't run dual servos for elevator with a Y-cable unless one servo is setup to run in a different direction. This is possible with re-wiring or a reversing device.

If you run each servo from a separate RX channel and you either have mixing available or "ailevator" function you don't need the reverser. The ideal is the "ailevator" function because then you can set up each servo to its physical neutral, travel extents, and in-the-case-of digital servos the deadpan. You want to do this so you can get each elevator half to operate exactly as the other -- prevents the elevator from acting like an airlon. Some really experienced flyers also like to add some extra functionality like coupling the elevator halves with the airlons, etc.

Not possible to set the two switch crow as a flight condition, sorry.

Hillaja- Thanks, good explanation on why we need an "Ailervator" function on the Eclipse.

We are trying to persuade "the powers that be" we need the crow in acro and the Ailervator function asap!

G'Day Mike, (Can't resist a quick 'thank you' to Hitec)
I'll buy the new Eclipse with QPCM rcvr as soon as it arrives in Oz.
To me the excellent service from the Hitec importers (Graham Kay of Model Engines in Melbourne) more than makes up for the crow in acro.
My Eclipse was a little down on a range check, and although out of warranty, Mr. Kay had my transmitter re-tuned and even supplied a new Supreme rcvr, all free of charge. The Eclipse now operates as faultlessly as my Flash 5.

hey this is not a hi-tec knock, we are very happy with all our stuff from hi-tec but sometimes as most of you know technology moves and now with comp radio's and d/ servos it's going to be like the comp thing, you can't stay ahead. and we still had to go and buy another radio not that we needed one but had too.

PS. this after mailing hi-tec to ask and they responded almost the same day with an apology and that crow etc was on the agenda for early next year,
