Default 5945 centering issue

I have a hitec 5945 on the rudder of my giles and it has recently started to chatter back and forth as if it were searching for the center point. If you give it any input it stops and holds firm. I was wondering if any one else has had this problem, and how bad is it. I really do not want to have to buy a new servo but it deffinately beats buying a new plane.

Is it possible the rudder was subjected to some type of hangar rassh?

Send the susepct servo to Hitec Service for a free look see. In most cases there repaired free of charge.

I've found that metal-geared digital servos of *all* brands will do this chattering if the gears are worn and you're driving a large surface like a rudder. It seems that any excessive backlash, combined with a tight deadband create a kind of oscillation such as you describe.
