just wondering how fast the savage is with the truckzilla conversion kit. is it A LOT more powerful than any other .21-.27 engine?

i think the truckzilla is slower cause when you look at the rpm's it only goes up to like 30000 rpm. and the stock savage is like 37000

dont know not got one but the extra torque will allow you to drive a higher gear ratio and get more speed so dont worry that the revs are lower

its 4.8 hp and it has alot more power i had alot of issues with the kit, first i broke the pull start then i stripped two one-way barring using the dam high torque roto start, finally two weeks later i got it running , i think its well worth it it has lots and lots of torque.

i dont know exactly how fast it is but i know it's if its tunned right you can smoke alot of trucks

With that kind of torque, you want a CB with 20 or more teetch to take advantage of the torque and give you massive top end...

Go up on the number of teeth on the clutch bell, go down on the number of teeth on the spur gear. This will let you take advantage of the torque and give you the top end that you crave. The curve of that motor is a SERIOUS deviation from the stocker, so to make a serious gearing change should also be in order.

But with all of that torque on hand there is no reason why it should not be re-geared. 50-53 should not be out of the question...

yea but the enigne has WAY too much torque for the little differentials and main gearbox. the .46 enigne just eats them. hot bodies should include some like iron ar titanium gears to replace the stock ones (iron might be a little heavy....but titanium is LIGHT!). many companies make titanium CVDs (i got a pair for my terra for 40 bucks on ebay), so hot bodies should make some titanium gears. it would make life with a truckzilla conversion so much better.

45 mph sounds a bit fast for that low rpm of an engine.is that when it is regeared?

Just do the 4 spider gear conversion on the diffs it is not that expensive. The extra two gears seem to help the diffs handle the increase in power with the 46 motor . I have not had any problems and my motor is modified.

Visracer you need to worry less about revs!! My real car that i drive to work every day tops out at about 6000 revs but do you think that struggles to make 45mph? I dont think so!! Its all about torque and gear ratios my friend, think about it.[sm=rolleyes.gif]

lol you do know this post is like 2 months old but you are right the rpms make no difference on the speed i think with the right gearing you can make that truckzilla fast as hell

i was worrying about them like 2 months ago. i know that is the gearing now but the lower rpms and it has the same ratio, it will go slower. with different gearing it will go faster. such as stock gearing that is on the savage, that truck would be as fast i guess.

The other issue is, let's say you find a workable 21-22 tooth CB, and get the delrin 48 tooth spur... Now Viz gets the same combo for his Sirio. One of them will have a hell of a lot more top end, the one with all of the RPMs obviously.

Unfortunately you are limited on the Savage gear selection, but even if you were not, that kind of "tall" gearing is incredibly hard on the drive-train with a stock motor (thats why they say 18cb is for on-road only), much less one that makes 400,000x more torque!

what about the twin engine savage. you'll be able to gear that thing for high speeds, cause the extra power means you can gear it higher right. higher gear = speed. but higher gear=slower acceleration. but i rekon if you find a good combintaion of CB and spurs you will have a reasonably fast accelerator and high speed truck

The truckzilla kit has larger tires that in turn decreases (numerically) the final drive ratio. This decrease will increase the tire speed per engine rotation. This will compensate for the lack of engine rpm. That is why it seems faster then it should with a decrease of engine rpm. Get it?

you can always just use the stock tires...........hot bodies rims are junk anyway.

Gotta disagree with that statement. My HB rims have outlasted my stock rims by months & are still going strong. One is showing signs of a slip or two on the hex but I'm betting that had a lot to do with a loose wheel nut.
