Here is my newly purchased Hpi Savage X 4.6 RTR. I just got done polishing the TVP's tonight. Installed an Hpi Polished exhaust yesterday...Also painted the wheels black..And now i'm waiting for things to break so i can purchase new and better parts. So far, nothing has broke and motor is running great!

Where did you get that clear exhaust deflector???

JatoHulk- I made my own exhaust deflector with left over tubing I found laying around my shop. No need to pay $5+ for an exhaust deflector when I can just pop my own piece of tubing on. And the plus is, it is clear...so it helps me determine if it's running rich or not.

Megamax- LOL, I know, I just got done cleaning it all up. I'm scared to take it in the dirt and get it all muddy[sm=tongue_smile.gif] I am a neat freak, so I hate to see things get dirty.. BUT, thats what the Savages are for, if that was the case I would have just bought an on road car. I will be taking it over to my cousins house today to go play in the dirt. It will be my first true dirt run today.

i would be careful with that peice...looking at the ID of the tubing looks like its a tad small compared to the pipe ID and could cause tuning issues.....and the "ratty" sound deflectors make is plain out annoying imo....ever heard a rear exhaust revo?......anyways.....ur truck looks good....it still looks like a virgin.....GO get er dirty and put some War wounds in it.

I tried that exact same type/design of deflector. It keeps the truck clean and blows all the smoke and oil straight down to the ground but lasted just about a hour or 2 worth of fun.
The issue with that is it will start to shrivel up/shrink a bit.
When hot, it's soft. When cooled down, it will get somewhat stiff. Either way, it will easily fall/pulled off even when you have it zipped tied.
Plus if you bash, it hits/get dragged on the ground often. If you shorten it, it might not keep the clean anyway. So you have a catch22...
If yours is not made out of the same silicone material as a regular angled deflector, well you better have some extra 3" length tubing on hand as replacements.
Last thing, the clear color will soon disappear from fuel discoloration. However, you can still keep an eye on the amount of fuel that is spewed on the ground for tuning.

looking good, "be careful for what you wish for" relating to parts breaking and getting new ones, if you want good replacment parts, go with RPM, super tuff..., show us some pics of your savage AFTER the dirt fun, without cleaning it off, compressed air is probabaly prety good for cleaning the dust... off

I have some upper arms similar to those and trust me they dont need much to break. Mine have a titanium shaft in the center for adjusting the length but on the 2 that i've broken its that part that splits right at the first thread. Bad design IMO.

very nice[sm=thumbs_up.gif],heres what i have been up to with mine, got the wasp.28 all broke in,the pull start survived, and i must say it is a very nice running engine,no issues so far at a 1/2 gallon.dumped the t-maxx rims and tires, just sat to low,put in new 4-spider diffs and new alloy cups, had it at 47/20 sg/cb with the 3 speed, was wicked fast, dropped it down to 52/16 sg/cb,now i carry the front wheels whenever i want, next is the lst shocks conversion, already have the shocks, just waiting on the mounts to come

acually no,first bump and its sagging low,i hate the hot bocies shocks that are on it,goin big,bad losi shocks, this savy is being built for some very nasty terrain, huge hills, gravel, dirt, rocks,so ground clearance is an issue
and thanks sportsfan,it just didnt look quite right with the maxx stuff on it

Yeah looking good mega...

Done first 6 tanks through the engine yesterday, no dramas, apart from it having a very tight pinch, which equals a few less layers of skin on my fingers from the pull start lol.

let it idle through bout 4 tanks, then started to let it roll round slowly. on the last tank i was giving it very short blips, and even though its so rich, you can tell its definately got power.

just had to make sure the carb is on properly, getting a bit of overrun, so wanted to make sure theres no air leaks.

the engine is the same as the lrp spec 3 so i understand. im running 18/47 cos i dont want constant wheelies.

looks lke its gonna be a nice sunny day today, so gonna get lots more tanks through it.

i have always wanted to try CF gear, but just to afraid i would snap it,i can see its purpose for street racing, but for the terrain i run it would be pointless/expensive
