Some ?'s
Is it common for the thick yellow washer at the end of the clutch bell on a savage 4.6 to wear down to nothing? Also how does the standard savage 4.6 tuned pipe and the ribbed tuned pipe compare? Thanks.

RE: Some ?'s
That brass washer wears down in no time. It's too soft for where it's at. I replaced mine with a 5x8 bearing and a steel washer that was the right thickness to give it about a hairs play.

Yes. It's very common for that bronze bushing to become gouged. Its happens from the clutchbell hammering back and fourth on the shaft. The cluthcbell is hard, the bushing is very soft. Throw that bronze bushing in the trash, and pick up severall small steel washers (I believe I use #8's, and I think 3 gets you close)) Stack them in place of the bushing, until you have about .020" of clutchbell freeplay with the clutchbell screw tightened tight. You will be all set.
