Default changed oil, less broken parts

i emptied shocks into a cup and put cup outside. -20f. anyway the oil in a half hour was consistency of cold bacon grease. no wonder i kept breaking parts. so i put baby oil in shocks. little bouncy but when the baby oil gets to outside ambient temps it thickens to about 30wt.
just in case anybody was wondering.

Doesn't the heat from friction thin it back out though?

Auto tranny fluid works ok as well. There are better oils for sure, but in a pinch atf works.

i dont think theres anywheres near enough movement to thin it back out. even if it did id still rather have bouncy truck rather than not bouncy and broken parts cause the shocks arent doing their job. good question though.
