Default If I Only Could Do 1 Mod or 1 Upgrade thread

Curious as to what it would be.

I'm a new owner so i really cant contribute but i'm really interested in the seasoned owners response.

If i had to pick one at this point in the game (i'm still breaking mine in) I'd say a Center Skid Plate and thats just because of various readings i've done.

Thanks,

On the .21 and early .25s I'd say the Motosaver filter.

I consider hump pack and steering servo one hop up. They go hand and hand. They are a must Have.

I consider this more important then anything- a failsafe.

Better steering and a hump pack don't mean squat if there is radio interference and/or the batteries die and the truck is headed towards a busy intersection or down a cliff. Ask me how I know. I will never run without a good failsafe and throttle return spring ever again.

Hump pack, easily. If I had to open my radio box every day to change out batteries, I'd have sold my Savage after the first week.

I'm kinda with bigbody up there. I'd consider a hump pack and new steering servo one hop up. After all, a hump pack will only make a crappy servo a slightly less crappy servo.

I have done all of the above (hump pack, servos, failsafe etc..) and the failsafe is the best $30 you can spend on a nitro truck!

i suggest putting the TRS back on, as it bearly drains batts, also the failsafe is good if u get interferance but if your batteries go on your reciever then your failsafe has now purpose

This is a tough one, there are a few equally impactive great mods that need to be done on a bone stock Savage that turn it into a HUGE improvement. If I have to answer, I will say a 6V 5 cell hump pack, its like getting FREE added power to your servos, its rechargagable, so you save money, and you will almost never have to open the PIA radio box again.

remember getting a hump pack isnt as simple as just buying it....u gotta get a charger and a new switch that has a charger lead on it...so its a little more expensive but in the end u will love it cuz just as Polas Bus said ull never have to open that POS radio box ever again.

You don't need a charger jack. Just drill the holes in the radio box and run the leads thru it. BAM, never open the box again. And most packs come with a charger, so it is as simple as just buying it.

how do u plug the hole after ? ? ....and how do u unplug the batt conec from the reciever .... and then plug in the charger ... ? much easier to buy a switch....i think at least. and wont the box be somewhat prone to getting dirt and water or sand...ect..ect..that cant be too good for all ur very delicate electronics that the sealed box is meant for...can it..? not trying to be an arse..but

Take a good look at the box, it's not sealed. i.e. big hole where the on/off switch is. All I did was drill two small holes just big enough to fit the wires thru, took off the connectors, ran the wires thru the hole, and reinstalled the connectors. Viola, no big holes, and it's just as sealed as it was before. And if you can't unplug a battery pack to charge it well... not trying to be an arse.

You need to buy the batt pack, a charger, and a special switch jack. The switch has a lead that plugs into the battery, a lead that plugs into the RX, and a third lead that you plug your charger into. I have the charger lead zip tied outside the radio box on the roll bar. Simply plug in your charger, no need to open the radio box lid.
