So I finally blew the rear diff. I bought a new one at the lhs today they also sold me the 13 tooth bevel gear and some shims. Do I really need to change the bevel gear, the old one looks fine the problem is in the actual diff. Also do the shims just go on top of the bearing that the bevel gear goes thru? and how ,many shims should I use.
Thanx

If you are replacing the ring gear I would replace the pinion as well. You want to shim the diff and pinion gear together as close to each other with out bind and have just a little gear lash. I shim both my pinion as well as my diff.

Should I put loctite on the bolt that goes thru that 13tooth gear? Its basically a pin but there are threads at the one end.

Maybe I missed something but in either of the two sites listed did it say anything about shimming the pinion and ring gears? I only skimmed over but shimming the pinion and ring gears is very important. Shimming the spider gears is not going to keep from stripping the pinion or ring gear.

46u.....the spider link is where you shim them. It's there bro. they point out also that you can shim the spider gears as well.
