Default getting my gears perfect

hey i recently killed a spur gear and i bought a new one do u have any advice on how to get it perfectly set and it is a 49t
somebody said to tighten it down to the spring and then loosen it a hair is that correct because it sounds tight to me.
also that same guy said that u should be able to fit a folded piece of paper through the clutch bell and spur well if thats
true than i am screwed. well if you could tell me that would be great.[&:][&:][&:]

The paper method is the easiest way to set your spur gear perfectly.

Both sets of advice sound correct. Its just that its for 2 different settings. The mesh between the spur gear and pinion gear can be set with a piece of paper. The slipper clutch should be set by tightening the adjuster nut till the spring is compress all the way, then backing off about a quarter turn.

My slipper is tightened all the way. Even loosening an 1/8th turn gave me melted spur gears.

I also tighten my slipper all the way. Just stay off the throttle, and brakes on landings. (Just like gamesbeer1 said)
