the stinger is the tube that extends out of the end of the pipe and the exhaust exits out of...a.k.a. the exhaust tip

The stinger is the small pipe where the exhaust comes out.

Any change to the stinger is going to make some difference. Might not be enough to tell bashing but it will affect your lap times if you race.

So adding the tube just to keep the body and frame clean what would that do to performance? will it run leaner richer run hotter cooler louder what? i dont wanna put it on if it will be a bad idea

My MGT has a 3 inch rubber stinger, there is no difference with or without it except that the frame stays clean of exhaust oil.

I bet if you put it on a dyno there wold be a difference. Might not be noticeable when bashing but on lap times I think it would.

I don't know how it could make a difference.

It's at least 10mm wider than the stock pipe outlet.

I can't imagine it's restricting the flow out of the pipe at all.

If anything it's widening the exit point, not necking it down.

Length has a lot to do with the performance of a stinger. I have even seen some high out put engines that will not even run with them on. Not saying on all engines there will be a big notice but I am sure on lap times or a dyno there will be some. Do some searching on the net and read about 2 stroke exhaust and get back to me.

Here is a cut and past

- Stinger. This is the last part of the tuned pipe. The stinger's diameter and length are important to performance but are largely irrelevant in RC car applications. The diameter and length of the stinger are governed by most sanctioning bodies, therefore, most pipes are designed to meet these regulations, and there is less variety of stinger sizes. The ideal stinger diameter is about 60 percent of that of the header pipe, and its length should be 10 to 12 times its own diameter.

10-12x the Diameter would be longer than the stock savage Stinger, I'm pretty sure. Will measure here shortly.

I know plenty about 2 stroke exhaust and I'm telling you that with experience in 1:1 and RC Engines - adding length to an exhaust device that does not neck down the exit point has no effect on the motor unless you add excessive length.

Think about this for a second.

If you put a 1 inch dia PVC pipe running from the exhaust to the rear of the truck, what would happen? Nothing.

If you put a pipe diameter tube on the exhaust to the rear of the truck, you would dramatically change the tune properties of the pipe and the flow dynamics.

If the stinger was changing the performance of the engine - you would see it in the tune.

And if the difference is only detectable by a Dyno - it's irrelevant anyways. For RC applications the loss of .0001 horsepower is not going to make a difference, and furthermore - even if it did change the performance, you could tune to match the new stinger (again, unless you added excessive length)
