Default Cannot switch Resolution beyond 640x480

Anyone have AFPD installed and having problems getting full resolution???

I can only get 640x480 max which runs as a small window on my 25" monitor. I am running 1600x1200 normally but have switched modes for some troubleshooting and nothing works.

When I attempt to change resolutions the computer locks.

The program works great... too bad Its only using 1/4 of my screen...

I also have to use my G2 interlink.. my 10X makes the inputs jump uncontrollably another red flag...

Frustrating..

I have tried many monitor resolutions NOTHING works.
Also when I attempt to move the window from the upper LH corner of my desktop the computer locks...

Here is my config:

ASUS K8V mobo
Athlon 64 3400+
1 GB DDR 3200 RAM
GEFORCE 6800GT OC 256 M RAM
1600x1200 resolution

I don't get it with these s/w manufacturers... this is a state of the art setup and all the open GL and DirectX benchmarks are run on this machine as a dev platform...
I have every latest released game and they all work perfectly (i.e. half life, Doom3, Unreal, etc , etc... )

My realflight G2 works fine as well...

What about if you do window mode then drag it to fit your screen?

Also what res are you trying to use it at?

Set video card setting to 1280 x 1024 and sim at same.

Well figure it out ... Germany is asleep right now. I will call them in the morning and find out what the deal is. I've been reading all the German forums (with help of translator) and have not seen this issue.

Don't worry DesertPig ... we'll get this going for you! Just use at 640x480 for 1 more day. I'll be working all weekend.

This is a cut and paste from a gaming website with a guy discussing similar problems,, perhaps some things you can check into.

Do you have AA(Anti Aliasing) enabled in the game or the BIOS? It's very likely this is what is killing your performance (turn AA off!)

Also, what video mode are you on? Low/Medium/High/Ultra ? You should be on High, but not Ultra.

What version of drivers are you using? The 4.9 Catalysts(ATI you will need newest drivers for your card GEforce 6800 card) have big improvements over previous ones. However, if you are getting bad performance, maybe you have lingering files from old drivers. If you did not just clean format and install the Catalyst 4.9's (ie you have run a previous driver set before), then uninstall the 4.9 Catalysts, run Driver Cleaner and get rid of everything "ATI" and then reinstall the Catalysts 4.9's.

Have you tried increasing the "cachemegs" in the Doom3.cfg file to 128MB or 256MB (from the stock 32MB setting)?

What is your memory like before you open Doom3? Should be about 350-400MB free; hopefully nothing big is running in the background.

What is your 3dmark 2k3 score, and is it choppy in other games?

Is AGP 8X enabled in the BIOS?

I have worked on some of these issues on my PC as well as going to the AMD website and downloading the latest AGP drivers for my motherboard, might want to call AMD they are hard to get ahold of but a big help once you do...

One more thing. If you bought a BFGTECH card they have SPECIFIC drivers to help deal with specific problems. According to BFG the generic drivers get the card going but arent really tailored for any specific needs. Call their helpline and you should be able to get things straightened out. Those guys have been great so far. They asked me to call them back once AFPD comes in so they can help me optimize my settings to get the most out of this particular program. Might be worth a try for you.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

I had a hunch over a nights sleep and woke up, tried something and it worked. Turns out AFPD Does not like any kind of GUI running on the desktop. I am using WindowBlinds (latest version) and for some reason there is a conflict with it. I unloaded it and as soon as I did AFPD worked normally. I am not sure why this is, all other games, sims, etc have no issue with this, but there must be some function call in AFPD that interferes with Windowblinds or vice versa....

I can now run at full 1600x1200 resolution with no problems... LOOKS AWESOME!! I am very pleased with the AFPD. I would like to not have to unload windowblinds every time I use it, but for now... I'll deal with it!!

I also cured the erratic behavior of my 10X... it appears that AFPD needs to see PPM set up as the modulation type, not PCM... as soon as I changed that the 10x came to life.

2 plane mode is very cool!! I can totally use my G2 box, and someone else can fly the 10x... amazing

So far AFPD is everything I thought it would be!!

BTW there is a freeware app out there that can disable certain applications when you click the .exe of the prog your want to run. Good for a lot of games that use a lot of virtual memory.

It's a pretty cleve application ... I'll try to find it. I have not used it in years.
