Hi everybody, I have a compaq presario 2500 with a radeon IGP 345M graphics card with 64mb. I just got AFPD and it does not run very well at all. On most planes I am only getting 10 fps, the hype 3D is the only plane that works well on my computer. I started looking at updating my graphics card, but could not find anything that would work in my laptop. Does anyone know of anything that would work? OMP guys, if I am not able to do anything with my computer would it be possible to downgrade to original AFP? Thanks for any info.

Hey. First...You did try turning texture compression on and turning the resolution all the way down right? Also turn the detail down. Turn of reflections and smoke and vertical sync and any other thing that requires graphical power. If you have tried all that then sorry, you can not upgrade that laptop graphics card. Only in recent months have they started releasing cards with removable modules that are upgradable. Sorry to hear that man.

I have a laptop with a radeon mobility, which is roughly equivalent to the IGP. As fly4fun said, turning off reflections, exhaust, and smoke makes a big difference. Check the compressed textures box, and use only the photoreal scenery. The 3D scenery will kill your framerate. With the above settings, I can get about 30FPS. It's very usable at that framerate.

I have a Dell Inspiron 8500 with a nice 15.4 inch screen
, and I can get up to 230 fps for some airplanes. Of course with all settings on high, (1024 by 768), high textures, etc... With smoke on I get anywhere from 50 to 150 fps, it all depends where I'm at on the map. I'm hopefully going to get AFPD, and guess what I only have a ATI Radeon 9000 32mb graphics card!! Maybe you need more ram, or...? I upgraded to 640mb of ram and it helped a whole lot with Battlefield 1942, I'm not sure if it helped AFP that much because I got the ram before I had AFP. I'm thinking about upgrading to 1 gig for deluxe, and BattleField 2.
-With a 64mb graphics card you should be able to run AFPD. Now what is your CPU and how much ram do you have?
Thanks,
Matt

If increasing my RAM will help I will deffinitely give it a try. My current specs are intel pentium 4 2.30GHz, with 448mb of RAM. Any other tips to increase performance? Thanks.
