Default USB INTERFACE PROBLEM

I recently purchased AFPD and love this program. I've been using it to train with and keep running into a problem. After playing with the sim for 10-15 minutes my computer goes into
sleep mode as if it is not running. I have to hit the space bar or the enter key to restart.
Sometimes, the program starts where it left off and sometimes it starts at the main menu
with a message stating it is looking for the interface cable. After it finds the cable I have to
hit the fly tab to start all over. The usb cable is not a tight fit in the port and I have tried different ports but it still keeps happening. I hope I don't need to get a new cable since I tried
to purchase a second cable from Icarus and was told I would have to buy the whole package again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I can think of two things to check. Enter "control panel" and double click on "power options". set the scheme as "always on". Set turn off monitor, turn off hard disks & system standby to NEVER. Then close everything out. Then right click on an open space of your desktop and select "proporties" then select the screen saver tab then select "none". You may or may not have to re-boot for these changes to take effect. I hope this helps.

I thought I'd add this to my previous reply. I'm guessing that your computer is going to "sleep" because of your computer settings & not because of a fault with the cable or the program. I think you can prove this by unplugging the cable while the program is running and you will get a message that the cable can't be found, but it will not put your computer into the state that you have described. Screen saver & power saver settings often activate because of inactivity. They must "see" activity from the mouse or keyboard to keep them from activating. I don't believe activity through the usb port (your transmitter) will satisfy them. If you have these features activated and don't want to disable them, I suggest that you move the mouse about every 5 minutes and it will reset the count down timers. I hope this helps.

Crowfly,
I tried your suggestion about the sleep mode and screensaver settings and they seemed to have worked. Thanks for the help.

Actually I'm going to post another FAQ about that too!
