Default afp

My girlfriend erased everything on the computer so she could install windows xp.She had windows xp installed from school for a few years and my afp worked with no problems. Now with the newly purchased windows xp I run into problems. I get a message that says afp main executable has encountered a problem and needs to close.Any ideas what might be the problem? I have uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times. She said the old windows xp from school wasn't getting updates any more so she bought genuine windows xp. I'm not very good on a computer but afp isn't as important to her as me. Thanks for any help or suggestions on what to do.

research if there is an updated driver for your video graphics card.  If you know the manufacturer and model, this is pretty easy to find on their web site.  Nvidia is a popular manufacturer.

Shroomdog, what are your computer specifications and what type of video card are you using? For AFP, you also need a serial port for the interface cable connection.
