Default RE: Aerofly 5 preview!

I placed an order online. The invoice indicated a 18.43 Euro tax surcharge. Can I assume that since it is being shipped to the USA, that you will NOT actually be charging me tax?

Can I assume that disks will be shipped (or will it be a download)?

When will it be available (USA/English version)?

Can you provide an email address so that I can communicate with you privately? The [email protected] email address does not seem to get monitored/responded to. Thanks.

I ordered a new computer today. Mines a 3 and a half year old laptop that probably would not run the program well and has a full hard drive already. The new desk top should run it well. When and where can we get the english version?

rkeyslay, my answers in brackets below:

I placed an order online. The invoice indicated a 18.43 Euro tax surcharge. Can I assume that since it is being shipped to the USA, that you will NOT actually be charging me tax?

(According to Ikarus Germany, If they dispatch directly to the US they will not charge the VAT. Additionally the shopping cart should not show that.)

Can I assume that disks will be shipped (or will it be a download)?

(Disks)

When will it be available (USA/English version)?

(The translation from German to English is ongoing now and should be completed soon. I will post updates as soon as they are available)

Can you provide an email address so that I can communicate with you privately? The [email protected] email address does not seem to get monitored/responded to. Thanks.

(Sorry to hear that, but sometimes Ikarus faces problems with foreign service providers and your email could have been blocked by spam filters. Just send a PM to me if you have anything really urgent)

The German-to-English translation is in the works now and should be completed soon. Stay tuned here for updates.

It had been suggested that AFPD have a function added that would allow a model to appear much larger visually, however, maintain the flight characteritics of the original model. This would assist in being able to watch the model better at distance. While Autozoom works, the model can get to be a small dot very quickly. This would help with pattern type models when at the edge of 'the box'. Will AF5 have this capability?

thanks
Woodie

Hey Rajul,

will aerofly5 work directly with a spektrum dx7, or do i need to get some kind of adapter also?

lxcoupe, the usb interface cable is the same as AFPD. You will need an adapter cable between the usb interface cable and a JR or Spektrum radio.

Hi woodie, in the camera setting of AF5, you can now set the amount of autozoom. For pattern flying, you could use something in between 50-75% and it works great!

Starting up AF5 is much faster! It goes straight into flight mode, with the entire setup menu available via pull-down menu or by quick access using the mouse right button. The "tips of the day" help menu provides some initial information on how to manipulate the scenery and the model using the mouse. The setup procedure for the controller is pretty intuitive and I will try to show this in the next few days. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

The plane physics for the AF5 is based pretty close on the AFPD physics, the most important changes are the more realistic inclusion of the induced drag, the stall/snap behaviour, the effect of flaps/trim, and the wheel physics on the ground (can do more realistic crosswind landings now).

The heli physics is new from ground up. The AFPD's disk simulation has been replaced by a complex rotor simulation which includes all parts of the rotor head, flybar and rotor blades.

Overall I give it the thumbs up [sm=thumbup.gif]

The aircraft editing parameters are divided into two levels i.e. simple and expert. There are more parameters available for editing, including servo. However, I find that most of the models fly great out of the box.

I found it really much easier and faster to setup a game commander or your own radio in AF5. The program will automatically recognize whether it is a game commander or usb interface. Then simply go to "initial controller setup"->"calibrate and configure" and follow the 5-step procedure. That's all you need to do to and you're set to fly..........

Here's a screenshot of Step 3 to set the directions of the sticks. With this step, you will not need to test fly your model to check for any control reversal as in AFPD. Very convenient.....

For additional functions and a more detailed setup, "advanced channel setup" can be used. I still prefer to use my programmable radio to set up the expo and control rates..........

What new aerobatic planes are available for the aerofly 5
I took some screenshots showing the list of models and sceneries (including 4D sceneries). IPACS will be releasing some free models and sceneries at a later time, and they are in the midst of completing the tools required for creating models for AF5 so that there will be more free models available through open communities like rcsim.de

Hi,

Again that same old Extra 330s i was expecting the new extra 300 or the 260 also a good 40% Yak 54 if they are making a new sim i would expect them to come up with these new aerobatic planes. I have flown the 330 in AFP, AFPD & not again in the Aerofly 5, i am sure peple would be happy to see a 40% extra 300 in the new sim.

As I said, more models will come from IPACS and the open community. Also, although the coding for AF5 models is slightly different from AFPD, conversion of the many existing AFPD models can be done by the IPACS and third party developers.
