Default USB replacement problem for AFPD

My original USB cable for AFPD broke and has been replaced. AFPD recognizes the new USB cable but not the transmitter (JR XP6102). I'm using the JR adapter from my original cable. The transmitter is on PPM mode. What am I missing? Thanks, Drew.

Ok, I've actually worked out that problem. However, when I try to fly it immediately leaves the scenery and returns to the home page. Sometimes the sound of the idling aircraft remains, with no throttle response. Please help. Thank you, Drew.

Default RE: USB replacement problem for AFPD

droosta,

1) Tell me exactly what kind of hardware you have, especially 3D graphics card, CPU, and any other hardware installed, sound card etc.
2) What is the RAM size?
3) Which operating system are you using, XP or Vista? 32 bit or 64 bit?
4) Tell me exactly what drivers you installed for the 3D graphics card.
5) Which addons do you have?
6) What is the version number printed on your main AFPD disk?
7) How did you install the main disk, addons, and patch (which version?), and what was the sequence of installation?
8) Post the tm.log file which you can find in the following directory

C:\Program Files\IPACS\AeroFly Professional Deluxe

You may open the file with a text editor like word or notepad. Just copy and paste the entire content into your post.

Hi Mike. Here's the tm.log and some other info: NVIDIA GeForce 6200 (version 6.14.11.7519)
1.09 GHz, 768 of RAM
XP Professional, version 2002,Service pack 3
AMD Athlon(tm)XP
No addons
Patch 1.8.0.25
Full install of main disk, installed addon about 2 yrs ago.
I'm still looking for the disk which has the origional version, and I'm having trouble locating the driver information. Please let me know if there's anything else I can do. Thanks Mike.

Mike, I'm not sure there are any addons installed. The only thing I changed was adding a patch to make the version read 1.8.0.25

Default RE: USB replacement problem for AFPD

If you have addons 1 and/or 2 installed, you should be using patch 1.9.7.11

I would just do a complete uninstall and reinstall of AFPD and the patch (1.8.0.25 if you do not have any addons). The uninstall instruction is at the bottom of this page http://www.aerofly.com/afpd/downloads.html

Is it possible to save all of my downloaded planes before doing so? If the addons had to be purchased, I'm certain I don't have them. Thanks Mike.

Yes, go into your AFPD directory and backup three folders i.e. "aircraft", "sound" and "config". After you have reinstalled, just replace the installed folders with the backups. The "config" backup will retain all your controller/radio settings.

I've re installed AFPD and the 1.8.0.25 patch, but the problem still persists! I've used this sim with this computer for years, I just don't get it. Might you have any other suggestions? Thanks for your time Mike.

There could be a few other possibilities that contribute to this problem:

1. It may be a problem with the graphic card driver. Update your driver and see if the problem goes away. You also need to ensure that your graphics card hardware acceleration is at maximum.
2. The problem may also be the sound card driver. Update your driver and see if the problem goes away.
3. If you're using an on-board sound card, you may want to try disabling the directsound hardware acceleration. To change the audio hardware acceleration setting:
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type dxdiag, and then click OK.
- Click the Sound tab.
- Under DirectX Features, move the Hardware Sound Acceleration Level slider all the way to the left (no acceleration).
- Click Exit.

Hi Mike. I've tried all of your suggestions but I'm still encountering the same issue. When I choose "fly" on the home screen there's a quick 'blip' of the scenery before quickly returning to the home screen, with the sound of the plane of choice idling in the background. I've uninstalled and re installed the software with the same result.

droosta, which version of nvidia driver are you using now? Sometimes the latest driver may cause problems for old cards. You may have to try an older driver.

Could you post a photo of the usb interface cable that you have? It could be that you have one of the new type cables which requires the latest patch. Try installing patch 1.9.7.11 and see if it helps http://www.aerofly.com/afpd/downloads.html The latest patch 1.11.x.x requires at least OpenGL 2.0 compatible video cards but your card will not work with this.

Hi Mike, unfortunately it will not allow me to download that patch because I have no AddOns installed. I took a pic of the cable, but am having trouble downloading the image to this page for some reason. It's pasting the file but not the image.

droosta, please PM me your full name and address. I will try to do something so that you can install patch 1.9.7.11 and this patch should work with your new style usb interface.
