I met some guys at the chile fly-in and they told me about the Farm Club. I have been trying to go out but havent had time or an airplane. I am going to be scramblin to finish my 27% cap and get a test flight in. I hope there will be some onsite DA experts as I just replaced my fuji 64 with one and might need some help. I should be around for that May contest to which will be sweet.

Are we going to the ETAM field or the northeast Texas RC club?

Just checked the long-range forecast: lows in the mid 30s, highs in the mid 60s, slight chance of rain Friday, no chance Saturday and Sunday.

We may luck out after all... but I'm bringing a thermos.

edited to finish thought:

Sorry, I didn't answer your question. The field is located in Mount Pleasant, Texas; whichever one of those two clubs' sites lets you know. I think the other one is in Longview or someplace south of Mount Pleasant.

Your question makes me think you don't have accomodations yet. If not, you might want to get that accomplished ASAP. These small-town hotels often fill up quickly on short notice, due to weddings, etc.

Nope. And when it rains there, unless they have dramatically improved the drainage since the last time I was there, the place turns into a quagmire.

Ok I just got my hotel room, and saw the link for the map. It almost looked like 2 different clubs. I am going to drive up early sat morning from Ar and just stay sat night. Anyone have any nighttime fun besides turning wrenches planned? How is the local night life?

Hey guys

The host club at Mt. Pleasent is different from my home club in Longview. The field here in Longview doesn't lend itself well for IMAC style flying. The NETRC club is being gracious in letting us use their field for this event. As you will see next weekend we couldn't have asked for a better place. I have registration at the college this coming week so I will be keeping up with his link better. Don't forget to check your planes out real good, bring plenty of fuel. Long range forecast so far appears great. Please download the stuff that Jarrod and I put together in the folder. I will have further posts here as the week progresses.

Now YOU'RE kidding; right? This is a small east Texas town, guy. Night life is the local fauna cruising Mickey D's...

However, it seems that a lot of r/c get-togethers over week-ends are starting to feature late-night parking lot fly-ins with all the little electric planes now available. I know most helicopter get-togethers have this; dunno about the IMAC crowd.

The Holiday Inn has a fountain/pond in the court yard of the motel. Pretty big one. Last time I was there, two guys brought nitro r/c boats and were racing in that pond. That was good for a few minutes of entertainment. The ducks, however, were not pleased...

Personally, I'm going to learn, not chase skirts. I imagine there will be some room skull sessions; I'll be looking for those...

Man..............I'm really looking forward to this. I haven't had a chance to get out and practice hardy at all . So I don't want to hear any giggling when I take to the air. That goes to for you to Dan!!!

I hear you about chasing skirts. Heck the current one I've had for fifteen years keeps me busy enough .

Something tells me that almost all of us there will be too busy trying not to look bad ourselves to worry about your flying...

LOL........Steve I sure hope so.... At this point I wanted to have the routine down. Not perfect mind you.But to be able to fly through it without having to stop and start again.
It's been so dang crazy around here. I just haven't had the time to get out and practice. I got Dan behind me the other day to call and my brain just locked up.[:'(] I couldn't remember the difference between a reverse sharks tooth and a reverse cuban 8. LOL.......No worrys.I know the difference, I was just under pressure to remember before the plane got to the other end. I can't wait for the first time I'm in a contest flying [].
Oh well........That's why I'm going is to learn. Still looking forward to meeting some new people. And learning more.

Is there going to be much on the second day? I'm debating about just driving down for the first day.And coming back that night.

Time is winding down now, the weekend is near.

Rick Byrd is still coming and hopefully Wally Pitts. Wally had emailed me earlier last month and said he would try to make an appearance. It looks like we are going tohave a good mix of basic and sportsman pilots. I plan to be done by noon on Sunday to allow the guys driving home some extra time. Shaun hopefully you can stay on Sunday.

Hey guys,

I'm sorry to say that I won't be able to make it this weekend. My wife and I have been going through an adotption process for about a year now. Last week we were chosen, by a birth mother. She is due around Feb. 3.

I feel bad for not going to the bootcamp. Eddie and the guys there are doing a fantastic job in promoting and helping IMAC flyers in the SC region. If any of you guys have any questions, please feel free to email me or call.

Remember have fun and enjoy the event. I will be sending Eddie some info about airplane set up and throttle management to help you guys.

Good luck!!!!

Rick

Sorry to hear that Rick. I was looking forward to visiting with you, and picking your IMAC brain . I can certainly understand though. I hope everything goes well with the adoption.

Eddie, Jarred: has the list of attendees grown larger or shrunk?

I ran and tuned both of my engines yesterday. I had not prepared to actually fly (batteries hadn't been charged since mid Nov - even Duralites need a charge once in a while) because of high wind prediction but it turned out to be a pretty day - wouldn't you know it. I made the shift over to Amsoil and didn't want to do that under contest conditions even though this is not a contest you don't want to have any problems happen away from home. I did find that I had not tuned the throttle curve on my WH 260 until yesterday. Man, I can't believe I flew it like that all last season - no wonder some of my landings were, shall we say, less than perfect?!!

I will be coming up from Longview and I think I go right by the field so if there is still some sunlight, I may stop by and check it out. Eddie, I will bring my two "sun abaters" since I think you said it was an north/south field and we will need them in the morning. Is there anything else you think we need that I can bring?

BTW, who else is staying at the Comfort Inn?

Bobby

We are.

We plan to hit town mid-afternoon, scope things out, etc. If you plan to be there Friday evening, perhaps we can have dinner?

PM me a contact #, daytime & evening.

Bobby

Jarrod told me today he updated the list on the ETAMS website. I believe we are up to either 14 or 15 guys. I have spoke with some and we are getting both sportsman and basic fliers.
