need only your opinions because I have little éperience in the world of the acrobatic planes. I have a Cap 232.35% Carden but according to some IMAC pilot it would not be a plane precise enough for the IMAC;

Carden Aircraft if you have building skills (40%) Edge
WildHare Extra 300 41%
AeroWorks Extra 260 42%
Dietrich Extra 300LP 39%
RadioWave Extra 300 Midwing 40%
Composite-Arf Extra 260 3m
SD-Models YAK 37.5%
SOMENZINI YAK 38% (not available yet) no data, but 102" if great flyer
Whether or not if one is preferred over another..that is to be determined by actual IMAC flyers who surely will be posting

IMHO Any midwing Extra would do you fine. I fly a 42% Dalton Extra, I have not flown a Carden Extra so I can't speak first hand on them. However I have let to Carden owners fly my Dalton and both remark on how much better it flew than their Cardens. I think this had to do more with weight and engine selection than the kit. I have also flow the 41% Wild Hare Extra and 35% Aerowroks Extra 260 they both flew awesome. I saw the Aeroworks 42% Extra 260 fly and have talked to a couple they have flown it and also flys very well. So which class are you going to fly in? Is this your first year? IMHO if you are flying in basic or this is you first year fly what you have (You already have a 35% Carden Cap)and try and learn as much as you can. In Southcentral Region there are a hand full of Yaks, 1 or 2 Caps, Edges, Katana, MX2, Velox, Ultimates, Staudachers, and Sukhois, but the most common model aircrafts are the Extras. It all come down to personel preference. Good Luck Andy

I have choosen the WH 300 Extra midwing and very pleased, bang for buck you get the MOST than any of the other selections. I was also looking at the Dietrich models extra as it is very nice looking.
Good luck, but i also agree with Andy, the 35% Cap will do fine in the basic and sportsman class until you feel you are mastering the basics:
-drawing a 45 deg line
-rolls centered
-level entries and exits
-geometry
-aerobatic turns
-point and slow rolls
Have fun

There are minute difference between most of the models I have listed. I know of no bad tenedecies of any of those planes and in the right hands with the right setup...cg/throws/mixes..etc..they all can be fantastic flyers. The biggest inadequencies are usually that of the pilot and/or knowledge of how to setup a plane correctly. With the newest computerized radios we have today, almost any bad tendacy can be programmed out almost entirely. There are lots of sites to find on how to setup planes and become a great pilot..but my alltime favorite is Darcy's place.. www.troybuiltmodels.com

Finally...I would pick a plane in the price range you like, color you prefer, style you admire, and fly, fly, fly...

Amy plane you can burn a lot of gas on.
The plane generally isnt the limiting factor for most of us.
Find one you like and practice a lot with it.

I have read that the Cap (compared to the Extra 300, 260, Yak's) have a tendacy to tip stall. I personally don't care for their looks and also the horizontal tail out of the line of the main prop wash. That is just my observation, but based on how many CAPs you see on the market and also flying..it is not a well sold/received plane for sure. I just flew a friends 1/4 CAP 232 W/evolution 58 24x10 prop..and I hated it..comparing to my AM 30% and AM33% Yaks. I'm sure other will chime in with there likes and dislikes of the CAP.

All designs have advantages and disadvantages. The Cap is great at snapping maneuvers, but because of its coupling it is harder to do rollers with. If you are in a class that does not have rollers then you might not care.
The extra's are not great at any one maneuver, however they are good at all of them which is why many people have gone to extra's.
E3 - I have flown (and "built") both Carden's and the dalton. IMHO the cardens blow away the Dalton. That said there are some people who have built Carden grossly overweight, but a carden built and trimmed correctly cannot be beat.
