N/S runway you face the east, 9:00 am 2) How many Advanced pilots are anticipated? No Clue 3) If I brought a tent, is camping at the field permitted or possible? I know you can leave your trailer and RV there but there are no hookups there will be somebody from the club staying overnight, so I assume tent camping is permissible but I am not sure 4) Will club judging be used or competitor judging? competitor judging 5) Is there electicity at the field? I think there is |
RE: Abilene IMAC
Thanks Dan, I couldn't answer any of the questions better than that. I'm not sure what your needing electricity for. There are only two outlets in a locked box that will be used primarily for the Pa system, concession area, and the RV parked in the concession area.

RE: Abilene IMAC
There's plenty of water to crash into!!!

RE: Abilene IMAC
Thanx for the answers.
The electricity would be to charge the plane, if I camp out at the field. May not be needed but is always nice to know. Also, is the pilot/dashboard rule being enforced? Hope to see you guys in several weeks. Ed |

RE: Abilene IMAC
I plan on going, unless something bad happens between now and then.
My charger is AC only (Powerflite) Think the batteries can handle 4 flights. Flew 3 long flights today. If I had AC I would top them off though. Sounds like fun as I haven't seen any IMAC guys in 5 years. Yeah, I was wondering about that flying facing the East with pilots meeting at 9:00. Thanx ed |
RE: Abilene IMAC
There should no problem charging your airplane at the field. I'm sure you won't be the only one.
|
RE: Abilene IMAC
Ed,
It has been a while since you flew if you are still using a powerflight charger. I will let you borrow my Fromeco 3 output DC charger...LOL The powerflight chargers will run off DC you just have to make an adaptor. 10's Dan P |
RE: Abilene IMAC
Yeah, what can I say, I use what I have. New NMP batteries, but old charger!! 5 years anyway for my last IMAC contest. Hardly recognize any of the names of pilots.
Will see how the next couple weeks goes and plan to show up Sat Morning. Thanx ed |

RE: Abilene IMAC
Ed, go to walmart and purchase a black and decker converter from dc to ac for about 17 bucks.. i use my all the time.
Hey, thanks for driving tat the pattern contest.. i was way to busy trying to get enough beerin me to sleep the whole night (grin) Watch yourself with this IMAC crew in the South central... they arent impressed much with pattern pilots.. i placed 5th and fourth.. no threat, so hopefully you will arry the flag better than I. later on Chuck |
RE: Abilene IMAC
Ed
If you have the standard powerflight 1 to 5 output charger then it is already set up for DC. The black box that you plug into AC is just a 12v power supply. GOTO radioshack and ger you a cigarette lighter plug and an adapter to plug into the side of your charger and you are set. PS what is your last name so I can add it to the list Who else is going to Abiline? |
RE: Abilene IMAC
Dan, I plan on attending.
Dean Nistetter - Sportsman |
RE: Abilene IMAC
This is a different Powerflite charger, just has 3 output plugs and doesn't have an AC adapter per se. I think I'll be OK. flew 3 flights yest, long ones and still had 7.6 volts or so.
Chuck, I didn't get enough beer in me also, but slept just fine anyway!! Ed Deaver |
RE: Abilene IMAC
Water? [&o] Oh Gosh. Seems like my planes have a water magnet. Ive crashed 2 planes in the water in my life.. Yikes!!!! Oh..But they were float planes. But thats still scarey. I can just see my baby having a radio failure or something and splash. Naaaaa.. That cant happen..Right?? Right??

RE: Abilene IMAC
Well, Im not gonna make this one. I promised the son I would take him to six flags my next weekend off, so it falls on the same day as abiline. Think I may shoot for Tulsa as my next one. Depends on how many are gonna go.
Jarrod |
RE: Abilene IMAC
Darn it!! If there was only a Six Flags in Abilene. You got to make the Tulsa one though Jarrod...By the way Ed..Welcome back to IMAC...Hope you do make it to Abilene...:)

RE: Abilene IMAC
Ed, just want you to know i will be very disappointed based on the entrants if you place no better than 2nd.
Chuck |
RE: Abilene IMAC
Chuck, you're making the goofy asumption my Extra will last through the week. She must know there is a contest because the canopy hold down has broken, then fixed, then blew off the next day cracking the canopy and mashing the counterbalance on one elev. Fixed all that, the a wheel collar came off today, both first flights(so mucjh for practice)
Who know what I'll have to fix this week!!!! Will be good to see some of the guys/gals haven't seem the last 5 years though. Ed |
RE: Abilene IMAC
Yeah, you're right. I think Mike Scoggin is incorrectly listed in Basic - his brother Paul was in Basic. Seems to me that Mike competed, he flew in Intermediate. However, it wouldn't bother me if he dropped back into Sportsman.
Bobby |
RE: Abilene IMAC
Bobby,
Mike is correctly Listed in Basic! He never flew intermideate. The last time he flew sportsman(or flew at all for that manner), was over 2 years ago. He reqqiested to move back to basic this season and his request was approved. Dan P |
RE: Abilene IMAC
Scott S will not be making it
Here is a little poem to explain Why ODE TO THE Giles A nice Summer Day, The wind was Not high, Scott took off Trying to Fly No Responce, the Giles flew by . As Scott’s butt puckered, His jeans pockets drew in He knew this was a fight that he could not win He gained control for a moment and turned her around, Lost control again and she headed to the ground. The field grew silent, no plane in sight Everyone is thinking, This just isn’t right The search commenced, Scott was Blue Raymond got bull-nettle over his shoe 30 minutes later and a quarter mile away Scott found his plane lying in the hay With a lump in his throat and a Tear in his eye Scott just said Why oh Why They picked up the peaces that were lying around At the grave sight they littered the ground. Thinking back the investigation began What could have caused this loss of a friend The batteries were strong the receiver as well Scott was thinking what the Hell Scott took her home, investigated some more As he laid the peaces on the floor He looked at the receiver once again He realized that the antenna wasn’t in Mystery solved at least he knows why This doesn’t stop the urge to Cry Abilene IMAC is gone like the wind Dan will be going without his Caller and Friend June 4th 2006, May Scotts Gilies Rest in Peace As a pile of sticks.
