Default Jetcat software question

I currently have a P120 (bought New in the UK) with an ECU type 4.9 and running GSU version 4.00 L software.

After sucessfully setting up the radio I have noticed two things:

1) The EGT is showing (with the turbine cold) around 50 deg c even though the ambient tempertaure is 23 deg c.

2) I cannot seem to put the turbine in Manual mode by pressing the Manual GSU button/ or led unit button. The turbine bleeps once but the amber led does not light.

3) It also says in the manual (page 32/51) that the Temp. value units in the run menu can be selected in the Limits menu. There is no selection of this kind in this menu.

I wonder if you could shed some lihght on these three problems for me.

Many thanks

Default Hello,

First I want to make sure you have the same manual I am using, maybe in Europe something is different in the manual.

Follow this link for the latest manual:

http://www.jetcatusa.com/PDFFiles/In...nManualV4L.pdf

Now on to the questions

1.) If the temp is showing 50 and the ambient is 23, you can recalibrate the sensor using the procedure shown on page 28 of this manual.

To summarize the procedure:

Your engine should be at approximately room temperature, 21 °C.
Press and hold the Select Menu key on the GSU, then switch on the power (instead of pressing the Select Menu key on the GSU, the little key on the LED board can be use instead).

The Display of the GSU will also show the message:

Release key to: - learn RC -

Keep the Select Menu key pressed!. It takes up to 10 seconds!

The Display of the GSU will change to the message:
Release key to: Calibrate Temp
Now release the key. The display should return to the default showing RPM and temperature. The temperature should be 21 °C.

2.) Trouble with Manual Mode (see page 36)

The Manual mode is no longer implemented. Instead, a
new expanded set of test functions are available from the Test–Functions Menu. This menu is selected while pressing the Select Menu key, press the "-" or "+" key until the menu is displayed. To test the selected component, press the "Change Value/Item"
key. To change the fuel pump or glow plug voltage when testing, while pressing the "Change Value/Item key, press the "-" or "+" key. The following functions are available:

• Run the fuel pump with a programmable voltage. This is principally used to prime the fuel system.

• Test the glow plug and/or set the voltage.

• Test the starting gas valve.

• Test the smoker valve.

• Test the fuel valve.

• EGT offset information.

3.) Selection of Temp Value Units.

I don't see any reference to that in the manual, like I said maybe you have a different manual. As far as I know there is no selection for temp value units with the ECU.

Hope that helps

Default Jetcat software question

Dear mr_matt

Thanks for the comprehensive reply to my 3 questions.

I have successfully recalibrated the temp probe and have managed to purge the fuel system.

The supplier of my P120 is obviuosly sending out out of date manuals. I'll let him know. The manual i received did not have a software version numbe ron it so I had no way of knowing it was for an old version.

Thanks again for your invaluable help mr_matt.

Bob Wilcox wrote that manual, it was a lot of work. As far as I know Bob produced the first and only English manual for the JetCAT, especially the 4.0 ECU version.

This is not directed at you Jason, but everyone enjoying a JetCAT turbine in the USA should remember that if it were not for Bob Wilcox, we would not have this manual, we would not have JetCAT USA......

In fact many of us would not be having fun and still trying to pick turbine blades out of the asphalt, our foreheads, etc.

DON"T FORGET THIS over the coming weeks and months. All you US guys it is ALL ABOUT JetCAT USA.

Enough said.
