Telemetry Sensor/engine temp
#1
Hi all...may I assume that the wire for the engine temp sensor is able to stand the engine temps without melting the coating. Also, can I add some length to the wire as it is not long enough for my application...will put the extension away from heat. Will adding length affect acuracy...thanks...Bo
ps: haven't purchased the rpm sensoe yet, byt plan to...will adding length to that affect it's accuracy ...am installing on an EVO 45X gasser and note that I should use the backplate to mount a sensor...anyone had success with this....
...all of this is way cool.....

I've installed and ran the temp sensor in a heli application that got it pretty warm but not gasser hot. Don't know if adding an extension would affect accuracy, it might since I'll bet it's measuring resistance which changes with temp.
RPM sensor should be pretty straight forward. You can use a magetic pickup pointed to the magneto right through the case or the backplate sensor. I've done this on a few heli's now where I've T'd into the governor sensor. Works great!

My gasser is an EVO 45X and is electronic ignition so no mag.....also, carb is on back....what about using the pickups in the prop hub that trip the hall sensor....

That should work also. You'll just need to work out a bracket for holding the sensor near the magnet.
Not sure about this but I wonder if you might be able to tap into the hall sensor for the electronic ignition. Something to think about.
