Has it arrive at HH yet Barry?

If yes, you might have luck in getting it back NLT Friday bat that was cheating you sent before Monday!
i didn't fill out the on line form so it won't come up. Oh well, I learn a bit more every time I deal with them. I had a crash from a collision at a pylon race and the AR7000 Rx case was broken and one of the DS821 servos had bad gears and when I sent it in I told them what happened and they replaced the servo and checked out the RX and replaced the case and it was N/C. No one is perfect but for me these guys are really doing very well. Bought an Ultra Stick .40 and tboth wing panels had been slightly crushed. I called on a Monday and told them and I had a new wing sitting on the porch Thursday.

I will let you know what happens with the Tx.

My box had two stickers too both the same TH912J (like inside the TX); the stickey spot is still slightly visable I stuck one on the inside of the manual.

The TH912CM is a bad Rev; but, maybe the TS912J is what they call the upgrade???

Wonder why they didn't stick on 2; and what you've got inside?

To do crash damage @ NC and then mess us over on this issue is really poor!

I think fare compensation for having to possibly rebind and reprogram is over night shipping and 1 day at HH; along with having a DataSave Device at my LHS/point of purchase do do a back up before sending it off is reasonable.

My LHS got two new ones yesterday with bad dates code on the box of TH912CM (maybe the TS912J was there too as above); he sold his batch of 20 very quickly.

Both the TH912CM and the TH912J are bad numbers.  If you have either one or both you will need to send it in.

Service Bulletin: X9503 Auto Land and Model Match

Product Bulletin: If your X9503 transmitter has the followingProduct Identification (PID) TH912J, TH912CM then please follow theinstructions below.

Product Identification (PID) codes can be found on the inside of thebattery compartment of your X9503 transmitter. If your transmitter doesnot have TH912J or TH912CM PID, then no further action is needed.

In late January 2010 Horizon Hobby Service Department discovered 2software issues in X9503 transmitters with TH912J or TH912CM ProductIDs (PIDs). The first issue affected the “AUTO LAND” function in theACRO model type this affects the function of the Flap System.

The 2nd issue Service Center discovered affected the Model Match formodels 31-50 when binding and saving new models into memory.

JR Japan has provided Horizon Hobby with a software update tocorrect these issues. This software update can only be performed byHorizon Hobby’s Service Department authorized Technicians.

If your X9503 has the TH912J or TH912CM Product ID (PID)

When you transferred your planes from the data safe tot he 9503 did they go into the model numbers you chose ?

For example I choose model 10, import from data safe and the model shows up in model 11 and so on. In all cases my model imported one model # higher than I chose. Something to watch out for if importing into a slot! Going to ask Horizon about this. Anybody else seen it ?

Since this was my first experience with DTS I was just happy to move them over.  I did notice when I down loaded the data and before I saved it the model # could be changed in the block on the screen.

Just got off the phone with Horizon. According to the tech..we are safe to fly as long as we stay away from model 31-50 and Auto land flap mix options.
Also mentioned that they are planning an upgrade for data safe to take care of some known issues. Lastly said 3-5 day turnaround to get the TX flashed from the time they get it. Given I am cross border I guess this means 2-3 weeks LUCKY me !

I'm sure Horizon is doing everything they can to get the affected radios turned around as fast as possible. I know things will get much slower as radios come in by the dozens but here is where I stand as of today:

Radio arrive today at 1:45
Assign to a repair tech at 3:45
It is now ready to ship!

Outstanding service! And yes, every manufacturer of anything has a glitch every once in a while. Be glad you don't have a Toyota (we do).

Cheers,
Steve

While they are at it they should fix the timer to work so it will be useful. Most people would like for the timer to start at a user selectable throttle position and stop when it goes below that position. Or at least the option to do it. Very helpful for electrics. Too bad JR doesn't pay attention to the way multiplex or other radio mfgs set up their timers.

I have never used a throttle timer on my glow, gas, or electrics. I have no problem toggling a switch when *I* want the timer to start (which may not always be the same).

My brother in law and brother sent there 9503 back, same thing, repaired and shipped the same day. Excellent service on our three radios!

Now I wonder if I should have faxed my request in? No communication or confirmation as to receipt. I know they don't get to regular support emails for several days and I wonder if that is the case with the email option. How will I receive my label from them. USPS? UPS? Carrier Pigeon?

Not if you are in Canada. I have to pay to send mine down and they pay for it coming back on a slow boat so their issue costs me $40 to fix. At least they tell us about issues and solve them ! But come on JR/Horizon, start thinking of user upgradeable firmware...we are in 2010 !!

By the way I figured out the data safe issue.
The radio will not allow you to store a model into the currently active model. If you say choose model 9 then upload from data safe, it will put it into active model + 1 so it will go to model 10. So bottom line, select the model below the one you want it stored in (if you want to store in 10 select 9 and run the transfer)

Going to send of my radio early next week lets see how long I have to wait to get it back. Got myself a DX6i in the meantime for indoor flying while the 95 is on the road. Guess now I have a basic spare too not a bad thing.

Not a nice posting: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...1&postcount=57

Before I sent my x9503 to HH for the update I had excellent range. I was flying my Wildhawk foamy with a spektrum 6100 receiver higher then I ever flown anything before. Today I took the wildhawk up for a spin. My mistake, I didn't do a proper range check. I fired it up and gave it a toss. I got it up about 100 feet and lost control. The plane took a nose dive straight into the ground. This sucks a**. I checked the radio and checked the receiver connections. I pressed on the bind button to check at reduced range and I had absolutely no control with the aircraft a few inches away from the transmitter. I released the button and had control again but plane would quickly go dead as soon as it got 20' away from me. Took it home to do some more testing. Tried rebinding, pulling the receiver out of the aircraft, freshly charged pack, isolating servos, etc. Finally I bound the receiver to a different transmitter on a Futaba 10c with a spektrum module and the receiver worked fine. I took a brand new 6100 out of the case and bound it to the x9503 and I had the same range problem. This radio is going back!!!!!

I just sent mine in last Thursday. When I get it back I will definitely test it thoroughly before taking anything up.

Well, my 9503 was sitting on the front porch when I got home tonight.  I just got finished reinstalling the Tx batt and checking my programming.  It appears that all my settings are still intact.  I put it on chg and will do a range check in the morning to make sure I don't have the same problem that  jrb1 had.  Will post more in the morning.

My range check is great.  My settings are all fubar.  Servo travel, sub trim, servos reversed, and I wonder what else.  I should have the H9 US 40 ready to go to the field in an hour.

The posting I made above is someone else's unfortunate experience.

Will wait a bit more before I send my TX back; I juts have a sneaking suspicion that another bug is going to be found – hopefully soon!

Hey Barry,
How is your US40 setup? I have the US60 with flaps and OS91 that is almost 3 years old. I use it to test new stuff, it has to be the toughest plane H9 makes. It passed the test with the JR9503 and then flew my AW 50cc Ultimate. I have flown 5 different planes (gas, glow, and electric) without any problems.

I had less than 10 models programmed.  I am working at getting the 9503 maxed out but have a while before I catch up with some of you.

My US 40 is set up the crow on full flaps.  On part flaps the flaps are linked to the elevator to pull tighter loops.  During normal up flaps I think the flaps and elevator are still linked.  I am working on linking the flaps with the ailerons in high rate to get the super roll rate.  I am running a Thunder Tiger 75s for power, 12x8 prop, and Cool Power Hi performance 30% Heli fuel for the extra oil.  I run all my four strokes with the CP 30% H as a minimum.  My YS 110 is used for Warbird Racing and I will probably bump that to 60% nitro and I am debating on the oil percentage.
