What about the BUSA 1/3 SCALE FLY BABY BIPE. That's the one I would build.

I looked and looked at it for a long time but never built it?? I thought it was a nice looking plane and it's another one you never see at the field. Price isn't bad either.

A BUSA Pheaton 90 would be a good intro, 72"ws. I loved mine with a saito 120. Very slow flying, lands at a crawl and if you modify it with ailerons on both wings does great slow aerobatics. There is a thread with some mods that make it a great flying plane and a pretty easy build. Just my opinion.

Here's a nice Tiger Moth kit in the 60" range.

How about the Waco or Stearman? Both are nice, especially if you get one of the radial engines for it!!

How does that BUSA Eindecker 90 fly? Looking for an easy going slow flyer with somewhat scale looks. Tiger Moth is the current front runner.

I havent finished building it yet but from what Ive read here it flys like a trainer. Its a very nice kit also! One of the main reasons Im considering another BUSA.

Giant Aeromaster if you can find a kit or ARF on RCU, E-Bay, or some other auction /sales site. They are out of production. Fly like trainers. Will do the works if you put enough power to them. Why they stopped producing this kit is beyong me Another great choice and out of production is the big Sig Sundancer. Smooth flyer, pretty in the air. Again, look on auctions etc.

If you're thinking about scale projects:

I've been eye-balling their D-VII kit myself.

My two cents:
How about a Concept Fleet. The quarter scale is still available fom Concept and it is 84". It will break down to a smaller size for transport.

Mine is 23 lbs. with boat anchor on the front (5 cyl. ASP radial ).

Concept models:

Here are two (old) pics of the Walt Moucha Marquart Charger that I said I would post. G-38 for power (needed a 45 or 50 really).

Can't speak for the .90 but I have the BUSA Eindecker .40 and it DOES fly like a trainer.

I am currently building a 1/4 scale Tiger Moth 88" wing span from Duncan Hutson Designs. Traplet in the UK sell short kits of this plan, ie all formers and wing ribs (laser cut) wing fibreglass cowl, replica fuel tank, scale wheels etc. It is up to the purchaser to buy the "commodity" items - spruce and balsa sticks and hardware.

Other Tiger Moth Kits are from Flair or from Clark Industries.

Let me know if you want any other information.

Since Andrew brought up Flair, I'll chime in again. I love their kits and have 3 of them in the hangar. The Puppeteer is a great flying bipe....well, so is the D. VII and they are in the 60" range. The thing is, I don't know about your building skills and Flair kits leave a lot for the builder to figure out. The Brits have a great sense of humour and while you may not get a set of step by step instructions, you find a good number of written comments on the plans to help you out. There is a HUGE build thread somewhere on here called Puppeteer Trust Angles (yeah, trust angles) but you can get an idea of how one is built.

Since you said you wanted an easy flyer, slow going I can certainly recommend the BalsaUSA 1/4 Sopwith Pup if you are looking for a biplane. Straight forward build by a very reputable kit manufactuer. I've built their Pup and DR-1 Triplane. The Pup is relatively easy to transport since any wire bracing you do is just for looks.

Good luck with your next project.
