I talked to a very kind lady who put a smile on my face more than once. She told me that my credi union doesnt allow purchases from china. Due to high fruad rates. W had a convo over the phone so instead im having to put this build on a bit of a slow down due to lack of funds to work more on the build. I will however be beginning the right wind soon minus the upper spruce spar (until i get a replacement) so it will be ready and go and ill finish the elerons and trailing edges aswell. Could someone tell me the best type of covoring for minimal warping would be and where i can get it for relatively cheap? I.E. Website. I appreciate everyone thats posted and i promise i will finish this build. Thank you.

Heres the mockup after assembling wing using little metal clamps holding r/l panels in place. Balanced on fuse. and i taped the tail surfaces on real quick, for the absolutely beautiful mock up!Even set the engine on my bowl of clamps and stuff. SOOOO glad i went with trycicle gear. Dont even have the front lg yet and can tell its gunna look nice. Gunna use 2inch wheels. I still gotta beaf up the tail feathers and button up the fuse. when i get the stuff. Not to mention i gotta epoxy the joints on the right wing and do some sanding and wood filling on everything. Im gunna use the big style popsicle sticks which are a string light ply to beaf up the wing joint. Plus itl protect for rubberbands holding the wing, unless i decide to use nylon locking nuts which the ply will help then too. Im gunna laminate the whole center section of said wing. Gunna be bullet proof. Alsp prob gunna get some rattle spray can primer gray. And spray the entire fuse. once complete becuz i kno im gunna throat floats on it at some point and dont wanna risk sogie fuse. I love this thing...

P.S. We all established this was a gian engine in comparison to the airfriame but it looks right at home there on the Mtelemaster doesnt she?! Lol!

For covering I would recommend something along the lines of Coverite or Monokote. Coverite seems to have a better rep currently and is easy to work with. I have used both (although not monokote recently) and they should work nicely. The key to avoiding warping the wings or tail is to apply it to the flat bottom portion of the wing at the lower heat range. This gets it to stick without shrinking. Keep the wing flat as you start to shrink it up and work from the center out keeping it flat on a solid flat surface. Do the same for the top and after completed check it for twist, again using a straight flat surface. Idealy you should have the center section flat and the wingtip trailing edge up slightly (the same amount on both wings) giving you a little washout. If it is off twist a little past the point you want and heat the new wrinkles out and this will fix the warp. I would recommend the standard weight covering as it will provide more strength than a lighter low shrink covering.

ok will do thanks for the tips. im also thinking about fabricating wing struts just to give it a cessna 150 airobat look. so i could also get the wings right using them as well. but will try to have them perfect when covered.

You shouldn't get a bow from the covering, the spars should prevent that well enough, and struts on that plane shouldn't be functional. Unless you beef it up properly you will just create a shear point. Let me know if you need advice on how to create non funtional struts.

NO i kno how to creat non fucntional struts. And have you ever built the mini telemaster? If you go to anyones builds they say the samething. That u have to be careful when covoreing becuz these wings can easily warp. But no im gunna beaf up the entire wing. Im throwing elerons on it and its gunna do a few rolls im sure and want to kno its gunna hold together. And i cant wait to see it in the air its gunna look great. I will post goods pics of all the airframes strengthening as soon i do them. but my kids r comin over this weekend and i promised my fiance i wouldnt work on it while theyre here. So ill do some stuff sunday night and next week. Thanks again for your help everyone. I appreciate it greatly.

Twistedteddy,

If you wish you can easily make wing struts that are active and do not need to use screws when you have to remove the wings.

Let me know if you are interested.

Your pictures show a nice build up to now.

Thank you for the compliment zor. And id love to know a way to make simple and functional struts. I was thinking using wood dowel and then use those little rc car clips. But if u kno a good way and can include possible pics then id greatly appreciate it.

I haven't built the mini, but I have covered many Guillows and 1/2A wings with Monokote, and they are prone to the same problems, but I have had no problem with warping using that method during, or any time after, the build. It will warp if you dont pay attention, but is easly covered straight and strong with careful attention while shrinking.

So i did some work on the wing last night. Instead of using 1/16 balsa i used popsicle sticks. And this wing is SOLID. i dont think ill even have to worry about twisting when covering. So the spruce spar i accidently used i think im gunna laminate two 1/8 balsa sticks and using it instead, yes the balsa sticks wont have the strength that the spruce spar would but i dont think itl be too big a problem considering the (popsicle stick) mod i did. any opinions on this? i dont wanna spend 20$ in balsa for ONE spruce spar...

$20.00 f/a balsa stringer/spar??????????[X(]
I do not know who or where you buy your material, but there are many on-line suppliers that sure can beat that my young friend.
Popsicle sticks, I like it when a person use what is @ hand and uses their imagination as well
Glue will go out in the AM.

Thanks for the complament duco. My boss has been thru alot in his time and says im prob. one of the wisest 21y/o hes ever met. I take pride in my ability to use my head and imagination. Seeing it payoff kinda makes me walk with my chin just a little higher! lol! And again im truly greatfull of the glue. and no not 20$ for just one spruce spar. but ive never heard of ANY place that will sell JUST 1 spruce spar. i dont need 30 of them or however they sell the stuff?!? idk what im gunna do yet but i obviously need to do some research. hopefully tho ill get some work done today!

Twistedteddy,

I certainly understand your main problem (money); same here.

Let us have further news whenever you can.
