From: gone,
I found my file of digital pics on my OVERWEIGHT spruce and [X(]Ironwood[X(] (well whatever wood the spars are... it sinks in water) Kadet Sr. (darn thing was over 13 pounds) Someone scratch built this from the plans... and thought he knew more about the wood needed than Sig.
It flew OK... but definitely not the way a Kadet was meant to fly.
How to predict where the pics will be so I can put the text in the right place? no idea.
I didn't help the weight problem by using a silk and dope covering on the plane.
This hinging may be of interest.

Well I'm happy to say my first gas plane and first kit for that matter flew great.....46 evolution works excellent. Minor adjustment to the front wheel and everything else was fine. Took it out last Sunday and she flys flawless. For all of you who said they wouldn't put ailerons on a Senior...I appreciate your input. I've seen it done and I was glad I did it. I like to build things so the time wasn't an issue. The fact that I was able to build this thing the first time and it flew great was worth it for me. I liked the challenge. Thanks again for all your input and help.

I've got to throw my opinion in on this one .
I have built and flown several Senoir kits , with and without ailerons , barn door and strip .You cant go wrong with ailerons.
You must reduce the dihedral to less than 1" total (thats 1/2" each side) without this reduction ailerons will not be effective !
A flat wing works very well and is still stable enough to be used as a trainer .
The addition of strip ailerons requires a full length strip at least 1" in width with as much travel as you can build in. Strip ailerons combined with a flat wing produces the best aerobatic effects.
Barn door ailerons with 1" dihedral will give you an excellent slow flyer to perform some very low and slow antics (very cub like )
If you really want a fun slow aerobat flatten the wing , add ailerons , make it a tail dragger , oversize the rudder and elevator
Then challenge your local patern pilots to a game touch and go or follow the leader , or just amaze them that you can fly a pattern also.

Personally, if I wanted ailerons, and wanted a trainer, I'd start with a different kit. The senior is a calm wind airplane, and flys great as designed, but for training purposes, I'd go buy a ARF LT 40, for two reasons. One, i hate building trainers lol, and two, they fly great, and you can fly them in winds that'll keep the kadet senior grounded, ailerons or no.
