Default Die cut Kit question

I need some help, I am building the re-released Patriot and this is my first Die cut Kit.

Question is, do I need to sand the edges of each piece, as is recomended on lazer cut kits?

Thank you for the help.

No, just make sure there are no pieces on it that shouldn't be. Some dies are better than others. Make sure there are no uncut bumps sticking up. That is all you need to sand.

mpriestly,
Sig says not to sand off the edges of their die cut parts???? I've built both their 40 and 60 sized Four Stars with no problems.

What was your experience that caused you to have to sand the edges?
Thanks,
John

I don't sand the lazer ones either. Why screw up a lazer edge? They should be perfect.

Default Die cut Kit question

Hey guys,

The reason I ask, While building a Pica Deullist (lazer cut) I had called around and I think it was Nick Zeroli, or a representative of and he explained that I should be lightly sanding the edges of a lazer cut part where ever gluing. He explained that it was important and that the CA Glue could not do its job when there is a burnt edge.

While I was building last night (patriot, die cut kit) I was a bit concerned about some of the edges, I think I heard someone say the crushing effect of the die. but it was very minor.

so I thought that I would ask to see if, Like the lazer cut parts, do a light, light sanding.

With the die cut, I have had no issue with the glue working.

I thruly believe it's not necessary to sand laser cut parts, except to improve cosmetic if you plan to make a transparent covering job

ONly reason is for glueing purposes, especially when sheeting, ie the ribs need to be lightly sanded so that the ca can properly wick.

I really would have agreed with you but after getting a real talking to and a good explanation I had to buy into the idea that it could make a real difference in the quality of your glued joints and strength as well.

Anyway, got to go and thank you guys for the help.
